Default M249s Para

I have the opportunity to get one of my holy grail guns, FN M249s Para, at a good price, but just had a few questions for those who have one. First off, for those who have the Para model, how hard is it to have the stock pinned. My middle man out of state, hasn’t made one Ca compliant yet. Secondly, is there any known issues with them besides the recall they? Thanks!

I have the regular one. It’s currently at FN getting the upgraded slide hammer and sear. Can’t answer your first question. It is a seriously fun rifle. If you have an opportunity at one, and it trips your trigger, go for it. I run belts and mags through mine and never a problem. It’s crazy expensive but that is what it is. I’m not in ka. so I run 50 rd belts in mine usually. Links are reusable, mostly recoverable, and easy to relink. Everyone will want to shoot it. I currently have an Aimpoint on mine. Should have it back in the next week or two from FN. FN provided a shipping box and fedex label for the recall.

I have fired the issue M249 quite a bit, but with a semi auto version I would think that the single trigger pulls would diminish the fun substantially.

I really want one, but not sure I can justify 8k that probably won't do anything different then a regular AR can do other then have a belt and the option to have endless round count capabilities to suppress fire on a rooftop during a hypothetical foreign zombie invasion. lol.

Still want one though ha

As impractical as they are I'd also love to have one just because they're cool.

But alas, not at that price point. If they were priced in SCAR 17 territory then heck yeah!

I think 10 rd belts, in CA, would also diminish the fun substantially.

But I'd still get one if the price was right!

I carried one for about a year. My first one was so worn the Pos was semi auto most of the time. My replacement SAW was good to go.

I wonder if you can get one of those binary or echo triggers for it. That would make it pretty functional I think. Especially if everything minus the firing mechanism is the same it'll be able to handle sustained fire.

Those triggers are still illegal in Ca though.

Huh,
That is exactly how I feel about the SCAR.

Mine is still at FN getting the recall done. Prior to me sending it in, it was shooting two rounds for every trigger pull. Maybe, I shouldn't have sent mine back...

Thanks! My FFL ordered it and it’s in route to their middle man for the kydex wrap and flash hider removed. I should have it in my hands by end of January. I have no problem letting you shoot it.

Mine just got back from FN getting the upgraded slide hammer and trigger pack sear. Very glad to have her home FN had it for 30 days. Good luck OP when you finally get yours. They are cool AF.

Congrats Sir. Enjoy it. Tons of fun. Remember to NEVER try and cock the slide hammer with the gun on safe. Once you take it apart and examine the mechanism, it’ll make total sense of why you can’t do that. You can run your serial number on the FN recall website to see if your rifle already has the upgraded parts or needs to be sent in. It’s no biggy if it does. About a 30 day turnaround. Drop me a line if you have any questions about it.

Sounds good. Since it went to a middle man, be sure and check for the accessories. It should have a 200 round plastic belt box, a 30 round fn mag (that they shoulda blocked for you) 200 links, manual, CD, and the yellow mag well block that allows you to hold the bolt back for easy barrel removal.

I've been out of town, but just brought it home the other day and everything was in there. I can't wait to take it shooting now.
