Default Can we have subforums for private sales?

That place is so cluttered with people trying to rake in on their ARs.

It would be nice to have maybe two subforums, one for long guns and the other for handguns etc etc.

No offense intended in saying this but this topic has been discussed before and suggested again and again - just like the people wanting separate Socal / Norcal for sale sections . When in all actuality if everyone put their location like the rules state to do makes way more sense than making more work for the mods that are already spread really thin just to save people time that are to lazy to look for what they want . It really just makes no sense even less so when you think about it / consider your logic is flawed since what your asking would honestly create even more clutter in the for sale sections from members who would then have to make multiple posts if they have both rifles and pistols to sell . Regulating these new sections ( like people don't have a hard enough time finding the right section already ) pretty much just equals less time Mods are on the site doing what needs to be done for the rest of us which negates them dealing with real problems which in turn makes it harder on the forum as a whole for us all just because you don't want to sift through both !!!

And then how about one for NorCal and one for SoCal sales? How about we break it down by county? How about by caliber, manufacturer, color? See where it leads.

I am new to this site so forgive me if my thoughts are not yours. I agree it is a real mess looking for a revolver to purchase. It would be a great idea to have the long guns separate from the hand guns, and if people were selling both why not have both posts? Having both a rifle and hand gun for sale in the same post just seems confusing to me anyway and I think it would be better to have separate sections. Just my .02 but if people could not figure out to post a long gun in the long gun section, or hand gun in the hand gun section then they would just be missing out anyways.

Or, how about folks are able to make their suggestions without being flamed out by some of you clowns? Ever give that a thought? It is the announcement and suggestion section, after all. And, if the same suggestions keep popping up, as some of you Mensa members so eloquently point out, perhaps they should be taken into consideration?

Just as soon as I think this forum isn't like so many of the others, you yo yo's bring me right back to reality. Well done!

I agree. So many people here seem to wish for gentler times when people were more polite, then come on here and rip the new guy for making a suggestion. Very helpful.

I did not mean the op specifically. This seems to be a general trend.

He made his suggestion and others opined, don't see anything wrong with it.

My 2 cents on the OP is that this is an open forum that needs to be self regulated for the most part, so the responsibility falls to posters using appropriate, well thought out titles, descriptions etc.

That is great if you know exactly what you are looking for.

Say you are looking for a hunting rifle, but are flexible which one, what do you search for?

You could search once for each possible make and model of rifle, and sift through pages and pages of posts, or search by every possible caliber, and hope you stumbled across something, but odds are it is going to take a long time to find something you may be interested in, particularly if the seller does a piss-poor job on the thread title, which is pretty common.

It is nearly impossible to find something by browsing the private sales forum.

Right now, the front page covers about an hour, and to look at the past 24 hours, you need to go back 13 pages.

It should be broken up into groups:

Handguns
semi-auto rifles
bolt action and other rifles
shotguns.

The problem then would be an admin would need to sort through the existing forum and move stuff to where it would belong, which I admit would be a nightmare. If it was me, I would just lock the existing forums and have everyone start fresh.

I also think that there should be a requirement to put your county in the subject of your thread, that would make the often requested norcal/socal forums unnecessary.

nothing needs to be sorted. Just declare scorched earth, close the existing section and open up the handgun sales, rifle sales, shotgun sales forum.
