Never heard a thing about it.

That being said I'm not an instructor.

From the FAQ at the bottom on the SDSD CCW page:

How can I become a CCW Firearms Instructor?
The Licensing Division periodically opens recruitments for CCW instructors. The next recruitment is expected in 2018. When open, information will appear at the top of this page concerning the application process and requirements.

Cool! Sounds like it was just their normal recruitment process.

Hopefully, this means that they intend to keep on issuing permits and anticipate needing more availability of instructors.

The only problem I have with the interpretation your post suggests is why it it was also mandatory for all "current" CCW instructors to attend this if it was only about recruiting new instructors.

From SDGCO email:

Many have asked if I think Sheriff Gore will continue to issue CCWs now that the election is over. I believe there are a lot of indicators that yes, he will. There are also some indicators indicators that he will tighten down the categories of people he will issue to.

Why do I think he will continue?
This week the San Diego County Sheriff's licensing department and firearms training department held an informational meeting for San Diego CCW instructors. There was a lot of good information and it was clear that they intend on continuing the policy to issue. The department is preparing to process a lot more CCWs and have hired staff to accommodate. Promises can always be broken, but changes in his staffing, official policy, and public information (website) lead me to believe he is going to continue his new policy.

How do I know he is "tightening up"?
Generally, there is no reason to believe he will go back to his pre-September 2017 unreasonably restrictive policies. Since September, hundreds have been approved and not one person has been turned down due to their "good cause." BUT...we are now seeing that people with non-work related good cause statements (hiking/camping, retired, etc) are getting push-back from the Sheriff's clerks. Since September, we have seen retired people and people who need a CCW for hiking/camping get approved. However, now we are getting feedback that the clerks are discouraging people from applying if they cannot link it to something work related. We have not seen a full-fledged denial yet, but at least two are going through the appeal process.

We'll have a better idea of what's going on once those two appeals are decided. But to me, the first bolded part is what I'd put most weight on: asking for, getting approval of, getting funding for and then actually hiring more people is a PITA and if they're doing that, I don't see them in the foreseeable future suddenly turning around and saying, "We screwed up. We don't need these people. Fire them."

But requiring either work related and/or targeted/stalked based GC is, IMO, yellow at best. Very few of us have stalkers (thank God!), or jobs that put us at heightened risk. Yet we may find ourselves in situations where we need to defend ourselves or others with deadly force, just like the incidents linked in my signature line.

Wow, sorry to know CessnaDriver. Definitely appeal.

How long did it take to get this notice after your 2nd interview?

Sorry, I was not clear enough. Not turned down yet. Doing second "interview" soon and pressing forward. But curious what the appeals process entails should it get to that.

Ahh.... You mean the clerk somewhat discouraging you to move forward?

Probably ask them to submit with GC the way it is.

A few changes were made to GC based on advice from those in the know. But for sure will tell them to submit it. Honestly, it's my life to protect and in all common sense I must pursue this and hope the review board agrees.

Seems Gore has found his mojo after winning. He is one unpredictable bastard.

I wonder what will happen to Myers? Gore is rather angry at him.
