Default Mini-Mags $6.32/sleeve

Brownells has 40 grain Mini-Mags, 15 sleeves for $94.85 after coupon code "M3P". Good enough price for me to place an order, even though I was done buying 22LR.

Tempting. But I already bought loads of Aguila SuperExtra 40gr. How much better is CCI mini-mags?

If you're talkiing about SuperExtra standard velocity, then the Aguila may have an edge, simply because it's not high velocity ammo. The Aguila shoots 1/2" @ 50 for me, and Mini-Mags shoot 5/8".

But generally I only shoot Mini-Mags out of my pistols @25, where the SV doesn't have as big of an advantage over HV.

The ones I bought were HV. So what you saying is that SV is better than HV? But I thought higher velocity is always better, no?

Past 25 yards, SV is usually more accurate. HV will drop below supersonic speeds somewhere between 25 and 50 yards, and that transition affects accuracy. SV doesn't go through the transition.

For reliability the Aguila is right up there with CCI. The Eley primer always goes bang.

Just a guess but I suspect it's some variation of the Eley system. I tried to get them to tell me but no dice.

Evidently they've bought new equipment and the process is "new and improved!"

Same here. HV ammo exits the barrel of my 5 1/2" 22/45 at SV speeds (as opposed to a carbine/rifle), so no accuracy impact.
