pistol recco for kids under 10 yrs old?
i'm going to get a cricket for my kids to learn how to shoot rifles, but i need to find some pistols their small hands can hold properly.
i have a ton of 22lr stuff but all adult sized and very difficult for them to handle properly. gonna teach my 3 daughters (10, 7, 5) and can't wait!!! any recommendations would be appreciated. thanks |

yes, i have a ruger mkii and the handle is too big for the younger ones. the 10 yr old can grip it, but not cover the grip as much as i would like (but thats my observation, not sure how she will handle it when we do try). i just figure if the grip was more fully covered, it would be better.
i'll have to go check out the walther p22. thanks guys |

I've had the same problem with my youngest daughters. Old-school revolvers with the thin round-butt grips are pretty much it until the hands get big enough for something like the Beretta .22's or the Walther. They are hit and miss hunting on the auction sites. If cost is not an issue, Ruger is making the sp101 in .22lr now. That's a fairly small length of pull that you can use in single action. A bit heavy for kids though. Mine like my lightweight Buckmark once their grip gets long enough to it. (your 10 year old, but probably not the younger ones).
