Shooting-friendly Optometrist
Hello all. Looking for an eye doctor preferably in the East Bay who is familiar with how to prescribe and fit shooting glasses mostly for trap. I have a set of Pilla's that I really don't want just anyone to screw up. Understand Dr. Wong in SF is out of the business now. Thanks for the input!

Can't remember his name but the young asian doctor at Dr. Volponi's office in Livermore was very helpful with my shooting glasses and had no issues discussing it. He doesn't have shooting expertise but knows his optics and eyeballs.

I had pretty good luck with Costco in Hayward about one year ago. The young asian female optomitrist (don't recall her name) had zero familiarity with shooting, but I described what I needed (trifocals with a taller middle-range prescription for arm's length distance to focus on the front sight of a handgun). She worked with me to order what I needed. She didn't seem concerned about the purpose for these glasses. They are not safety glasses, but my recollection is that they were 1/2 off because I was buying my primary glasses at the same time. Good luck.

At Kiaser, you can get occupational prescriptions where the near correction is on top. It can be set at any distance you want. Costco does not do occupational prescriptions. Also you want the tallest frames you like and when they take measurements of where to split the focal, snug the frame close to your face.

Im an optometrist based in lafayette, ca. I'm a member of richmond rod and gun (was an RO). Shooting glasses are something I've studied intensely on since I'm pretty much addicted to the hobby. Bullseye, bench, trap, and action shooting...you name it! I've worked with a few olympic shooters before as well to help them with their set ups. Pm me if you are still looking for someone. O and I take payment in ammo...jk😆
