Default Buy some online "fuel filters"

So I cam across this interesting "car parts" page that has some interesting "fuel filters".

And no, I have no intention of buying one.
I'm sure the ATF would love to see who purchased from them.

Yes these are all over the Chinese shopping apps. Eg AliExpress, Wish.
It started with "1/2x28 solvent trap adapters" and grew from there.
You will also find Glock end plates with extra buttons. I would strongly suggest not ordering one of these for your dune buggy. ATF has made the news busting people with those extra Glock parts. I'm sure this is on their radar.

Sometimes, when I go to restaurants, I pay in cash because I know that’s how they do small business.

These are all over Amazon. "Solvent Trap", "Fuel Filter", etc. And yes, I would stay the heck away from all of them.

Another member posted a link of someone who got busted recently for ordering one online. I believe it was in New Mexico and he was in the military, Air Force IIRC. Don’t do it, not worth it.

You know damn well the ATF is sitting with the payment processors. It's blatant as heck as to what it is, thread pitches, and nonetheless the multi wrench.

So I’m guessing the ATF thanks all the informants who shed light on these things??

From everything I've seen, those things are legal to order and own as long as you aren't dumb enough to drill them out. People around the country buy them and Form 1 suppressors with them all the time, because it's much faster and cheaper than going through the purchase and wait for a tax stamp process. They're not as good I guess, but...

If I didn't live in CA, I would form 1 the crap out of a bunch of them just because.

But, being in CA, I'm wary about anything that could even be looked at sideways, and won't be touching them. The wish glock sears were a definite hard no, and plenty of folks got arrested for them.

I get sidebar ads for those all the time. I wouldn't touch them.

On a side note, I do miss my silencer. They make practice so much nicer....

If you think the ATF doesn't already know about all of these I guarantee you are sadly mistaken.

I am not recommending anyone do anything dumb but we actually had a solvent trap case go forward in our county and it ended up not getting charged as a suppressor because there was no hole in the oil can yet.

Basic facts if the case was 5150 dude threatening business owners, gets contacted, is carrying a Glock with threaded LW barrel with adaptor and oil can in place. They charged him for the 422 and carrying a concealed/loaded firearm in public but when the case was staffed with either DOJ or ATF they said the suppressor charge couldnít go because there was no exit hole in the oil filter.

Was there anything in that case for the threaded barrel on a semi auto handgun?

No, it didn’t get charged either. The guy ended up taking a felony 422 and probation. I’m pretty sure they staffed the suppressor with ATF and there’s no federal issue on threaded barrels, that’s a CA issue.

Years ago silencer kits were a big deal. Sellers "kept no records" of buyers or shipping. However UPS did. A friend bought one and built it after a couple months ATF showed up at door and wanted to see parts. He explained stuff was junk and he had thrown it away. During the conversation it came up how easy it was to find stuff because most hid it in the attic under the insulation. A metal detector below the ceiling made quick work of a search. They left he got it out of the attic and destroyed it. They never came back.

Interesting. I hadn't heard of any actual cases. I can see that not having a hole in the can may have saved him from going to trial. They are marketed as "solvent traps" and with it not being drilled or mounted it would be a tough argue. Not worth their effort. Edit to add: I misread your post and thought the can was not mounted on the firearm. I am surprised that they didn't go forward with the prosecution in that case. Although perhaps the 5150 issue was the main reason for no prosecution.

I am surprised CA didn't make an issue out of the threaded barrel.
