Default Like my Geissele SSA-E

Didn't get a chance to post this earlier...but really...the SSA-E is a really great upgrade from the stock RRA standard trigger. If anyone is on the fence...jump off and get this trigger. You won't be sorry. I really like it and it was very easy to install.

Can you explain why?
I'm in the market for a quality trigger for an AR pistol.

this is just my personal preference, but I thought the SSA-E was too light on my featureless.

My race AR has that trigger in it. All my other AR's have the non-enhanced version (SSA). The SSA-E is very nice, but the pull is a lil' too light for my style.

The SSA-E is meant for precision shooting. The SSA is meant for more tactical applications. This is according to the manufacturer.

Additional info...yup...the SSA-E is on my Varmint Rig...definitely too light for "tactical" applications.

SSA pulls at about 4.5# SSA-E pulls at about 3.5# that's the big difference. I personally have the SSA and absolutely love it. Not too heavy, not too light.

I just picked up Wilson's TTU 3 Gun trigger. Dropped it in last night. Man does it feel good. Zero slack. Crisp 3.5 - 4 lb break. Minimal reset. Can't wait to try it out. Install was a breeze. It's $50 off right now at $215. Might be worth a look

I have an SD3G and love it but it's for actual use not benching. It has a fast reset and a light trigger 3.5 I think. It's great for follow up shots.

This is too funny. I was wondering what the difference was betwen the SSA and SSA-E. Currently run the SSA on a 16" build. I am working on a High Power build and have a SSA-E on the way.

I picked up a SSA-E from PSA on Black Friday, was thinking about returning it, as I just built my Noveske with the Daniel Defense LPK... was just going to shoot it stock for a while, but I may decide to keep the SSA-E...argh...what to do...

I've got an ssa on the way from tier one arms and from my experience... I alwys regret gun related sales whether they be guns or parts for a build. You can always save the trigger group for a future build. Imo I say you hold onto it.

I love the feel of the SSA-E, a more traditional 2-stage trigger feel -- note it has a longer reset than the S3G. The S3G feels more like the trigger is on bearings then suddenly breaks, and it has a noticeably shorter reset which can help with your split times.

Both great triggers with different characteristics. Your best bet is to try them both to see which you prefer, trigger feel can be a very personal preference!

Once you try it, you'll never want to go back to a stock trigger! Just be forewarned, you'll want to upgrade all your rifles...

Been wanting to try a Geiselle trigger on at least one of my AR's because everyone speaks so highly of them. I'm afraid of falling in love with it and wanting it on every rifle.

SSA-E reset is too long for quick triple taps. Reserve it for your DMR-type rifles.
S3G trigger is much better for 3-gun type matches, and good enough for precision shots at long distance.

Found a photo of my target the first time out after installing the trigger...They are two 5 shot groups. Each group had one bad flyer that I called, pulled them bad (one was on the X ring and the other in the 10 ring).

The first 5 shot group was the 3 on the left, the one in through the X and the one flyer on the X ring (not in that shot order). I then settled in a bit and the second 5 shot group was the 3 grouped vertically just right of the X, the one in the black of the X ring to the right and the one flyer in the 10 ring (not in that shot order). I'm not sure if that made sense...I'll try to remember to bring a pen next time!

Anyway, this was at 100 yards off of sandbags shooting at the NRA 50 yard slow pistol target...I didn't measure and forgot to put something next to it for a size comparison. It was a good day for me. Prior to changing out the trigger I could barely hold a 3" group with the stock trigger at 100 yards.

Thank you Geissele!

I just installed an SSA-E in my LMT lower. I like it a lot, very smooth. Since I got it for close-in work (14.5" DD light weight barrel, EO Tech sight), I think it might be a touch light. Still need to get to the range and get use to it, but think that I should have gone with the SSA. The trigger is so smooth that I think the additional pound of pull on the second stage might be needed.

Just keep shooting it and you will get used to the light trigger break enough to be able to control it. It just feels really light when switching from a heavy, gritty stock trigger but once you get used to the smooth, light & crisp feel you won't be too concerned with it's lightness.

Following on the above, no disrespect intended but also remember your safety and trigger finger discipline are paramount. Safety should always be on and trigger finger straight until you're ready to engage, doing a bunch of drills where you have to constantly engage/disengage/engage the safety are really helpful to make this engrained. If, for example, you take a multiple-day high round count carbine class with a lot of these repetitions, by the end it'll probably be second nature!
