Default 6.8 Spec 2????

I got a DPMS 6.8 1/11 twist barrel on a trade, and was wondering how I can tell if its a Spec 1 or 2. Is there a way to tell without using a chamber gauge?

That's pretty lame, they should mark them well enough to tell you what chamber they put in it.

Oh well, they aren't exactly a top tier AR manufacturer.

The guys on 68Forums will know for sure.

Mine is punched into the barrel

I got the specII reamer on the 68forums group share and reamed my stag 1/10 specI out to a specII . Unfortunately it's still a 1/10 twist but it will work fine til i have $300 laying around for a new arp barrel .

Being its a 1/11 twist, its a good sign..
Thank you all for your help..
I will go and check out that 6.8 forum...

Also I called Silver State Armory because I got a couple of boxes of SSA ammo along with the barrel..I told them what I had and they said it was spec 2.
I want to make sure..that's why I posted here..

I would sell it and get a barrel from AR Performance if I were you. Their chamber allows you to shoot hotter loads than anyone elses 6.8 SPC chambers. Plus they are nitrocarburized so they will last a loooooong time.

If you are in the LA area, swing by the shop.

I can check it out for you in less than 1 minute.

If it needs to be reamed, no problem, I have a SpecII reamer.

Toss it and get a 6.5 Grendel.... j/k

Your chamber most likely be SPCII if you have 1/11 twist. I do believe the 1/11 twist was accepted after the SPC II chamber. You can also send it to AR15 Performance to have the chamber reamed to his specs (regardless of what chamber you have). It'll help with the performance of the type of load you shoot... especially if you roll your own. Drop him a line at info@ar15performance.com BTW, Addax is a supporter of 68Forums also so he's a good person to go to locally.

An ARP barrel would be better but since you have it might as well check it and use it....

Then upgrade to an ARP.

If you want to ship it down, no problem, as long as you take care of the return shipping.

More than likely you have a SPECII chamber, but if you are unsure, and you are going to shoot the hotter loads, then it does not hurt to verify...
