I do that. Youd be surprised at what you find.

Called Buena Park this morning regarding 9mm and was told they were out. I asked when they might be getting more and was told it would be at the end of the week and suggested contacting the Sporting Goods' department manager either tomorrow or Tuesday to get more information.

On a related note, it seems Cerritos Wal-Mart is always out of ammo (both over-the-phone and in-person inquiries) and the employees aren't really helpful with providing any information as to when they might get more. So this may be a location where either they are not getting ammo or the employees are the ones buying it up.

Lastly, for those trying their luck at Wal-Mart and failing miserably, several local Turner's will be getting deliveries tomorrow and Tuesday. You can see the delivery schedules for some of them in the Turner's ammo thread in my sig below.

Maybe we should start holding ammo when we call in under a generic name fot other calgunners to pick up. I called corona walmart and they held bulk 12 gauge boxes for me no problem.

Interesting idea. My thinking is that they would hold shotgun ammo since it isn't sold out anywhere. However, popular handgun and rifle calibers might be different story.

Moreno Valley Walmart was all empty except for some .40 cal by PPU and oddball rifle ammo. A very friendly employee said that the best time to stop by is between 7 and 8 pm. No set schedule on the truck delivery days though.

Are you sure it's not 7-8 AM? I was just at that location around 2PM yesterday and they told me that they restock the night's shipment(if there is one) around 7 AM.

I guess we'll find out, as I'm heading there to check myself.

Edit 8:03 AM
So no new ammo today, but I did talk with the employee who actually stocks the stuff in the morning. She told me that 7-8AM is when she checks the back and puts it out on the shelves.

Thats what I initially thought too since everyone else is restocking in the morning. I was there at 7:30 pm and employee originally said "this is usually the best time to come by." So I asked the guy again just to be sure, and he said "yeah, between 7 and 8 pm". And there were quite a few empty ammo cartons at the counter, so I assume they had put the ammo up recently. Maybe he was BSing. Do let us know.

Is that in the AM? I'm really sick of going all around SoCal just to FIND some 9mm. All I see are hollow points. Not really a good experience for someone who just bought their first gun...

i might not be able to get some because i work down the street at 7. i would also like to add that im probably going to get into reloading and if i do id be happy to reload rounds for cost plus $20 per 500 rounds. 1000 rounds of 9mm i believe reloaded with good powder and bullets is about $130. online factory ammo is $240 for the cheap federal with week loads.
