Question BLM Oct.5,2017 Fire Ristrictions MOD

So I was searching through the BLM website to see what shooting options I could find when I get back from Iraq in mid December. I found a modification to the Fire Restrictions that has been posted as of October 5th and at the end it states that "During the issuance of Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches, as determined by the National Weather Service (NWS), all recreational shooting and use of campfires, regardless of stage restrictions, will be temporarily suspended to reduce the potential of unintended wild land fire ignitions for the period of the event". So technically shooting is not restricted unless NWS issues a Red flag Warning? Where do I find these warnings posted? Truth is I've never shot on BLM land before and I really want to understand the ins and outs of the actual law pertinent to the subject. Currently I'm deployed and at time find myself with more than enough time to read up on things. I know knowledge is power and sometimes ignorance is bliss.

In case anyone didnt want to open the attached file directly:

https://www.blm.gov/sites/blm.gov/fi...der-2017_0.pdf

Most relevant section is this:

"As of October 5, 2017, all BLM-managed public lands listed below within the California Desert
District shall be under Stage IlI restrictions and will continue until enough moisture has been
received in the winter to significantly reduce the fire threat
:
• All public lands in San Diego, Orange and Los Angeles counties.

Got to love their ambiguity when it comes to measuring moisture.

Calfire is the resource you want to reference to determine when the restrictions are lifted.

I just spoke to calfire and BLM yesterday. Both are waiting until there is more moisture in the area, and for the temperature to level off. Once they make the determination to lower fire restrictions to levels 2 or 1 , they should lift some restrictions. You could always head out to the Imperial. Its really nice out there right now .

Probably closed until January. Seems we are back into the drought down south. If it's not Excremento, it's Nature.

So the Stage 3 fire restrictions are only for western Riverside County (west of Hwy 62 ), which means the Indio Area is open, Berdoo and Fargo and almost any canyon north of dillon rd south of Jousha tree. i made a Map of all the open areas if anyone is interested just let me know

It sure was nice in the desert last weekend. No wind, 76 degrees, high clouds, perfect shooting conditions.

It is definitely a good time to do some desert shooting. If San Diego is still closed in January, we will be planning a range trip to Imperial if anyone is interested. Probably on a sunday morning early January.

We need at least 2 or 3 more storms like this first. Openings are determined by Cal Fire meauring the soil moisture, not the feds.

We will be meeting up at a local range on FeB 6th to do some shooting. Maybe afterward we can all go get a car wash and do some rain dancing.
I will post the details soon. Still locking down the range.

It was open as of 4/13. Arrived around 8am, and there was already a small crowd. Temps got up to ~90 deg F by 9 am but me and my friends had a good time.

Didn't look like there was too much trash yet, although we did see some large piles of shotgun shells. Try to pick up as much as you can

EVery little bit helps. If everyone just hauls out one bag of trash when they go, it keeps most of the mess under control .
I will be heading out there on Saturday the 21st to do some cleaning and shooting. If anyone is interested ,Send me a pm by Friday .

Closed for fire restrictions . The grass is already around 3 feet tall and very dry . So San Diego was raised to level 3.

But, you can still go out to Imperial . We were just out there for a clean up and had a great time .
