Question RIA Lion X4 Semi-Auto Shotgun - Extended Tube? Aftermarket Parts?

Hey y'all,

I saw that some of the Rock Island Armory X4's finally came back in stock, and I've heard great things about them so I had to jump on ordering one today! (also being my first semi-auto shotgun for such a great price)

My questions are, are there any aftermarket parts available for them, and if so what is recommended? First thing that is obvious should be an extended tube magazine, but I can't seem to find any? Anyone have any links to what is applicable? Also, are there any side saddles, slings, etc.?

Appreciate any feedback, thank you!

Copy, I'm just looking for a 3+ extension to make 7+1 instead of the standard 4+1.

Ahhh I gotcha now, well this is embarrassing I was under the assumption because the X4 is not box mag fed that there wasn't a restriction on capacity, but I guess I was wrong. Well, I guess I can add an extra 1+ extension to make it 5+1 instead of 4 lol... (right?)

922(r) doesn't say anything about that. It talks to the exporter and/or importer, NOT the individual owner.

922R rules for imported shotguns can be a little confusing. Freedom Fighter Tactical and Carrier Comp both have white papers up on their sites explaining 922R as it relates to the Benelli m4. But I assume the rules are relatively the same for any imported shotgun.

You can replace the factory tube for a greater than 5 round tube. But if you replace it with a USA made tube then you also need to change out some of the other APPROVED parts to US parts to get down to the appropriate number. See what I mean by it being a little confusing?

Anyway, with the m4 you need to swap out a total of 3 NAMED parts to get down to the magic number of 10, if memory serves. I have no idea if the RIA gun is exactly the same. However the white papers should at least help explain the general rules of 922R to you.

And yes it does apply to individuals. At least that is my opinion. But it's also the opinion of numerous MFG's who deal with this (like Freedom Fighter and Carrier Comp) and it is also the opinion of the ATF who has issued written comment on this as it relates to the Benelli m4 (don't know if they've written anything on the RIA). The ATF, however, clearly believes that 922r applies to individuals. So you can decide whether you want to believe random people on the interwebz or the ATF. Choose wisely. And may the odds be ever in your favor!

Yes do mind 922r..

It looks like a copy of Turkish shotgun such as Fedarm FX4, Berika, ATI, etc. Extension mags made for Benelli Nova should fit (Carlson and Tacstar).

Here's a install video for the said shotgun,

It's pretty clear...

Quote:
Sec. 178.39 Assembly of semiautomatic rifles or shotguns.

a. No person shall assemble a semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun using more than 10 of the imported parts listed in paragraph (c) of this section if the assembled firearm is prohibited from importation under section 925(d)(3) as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.
As far as what constitute sporting shotgun, that's to ATF's discretion.

Non-sporting shotgun
Any of the bellow listed features/characteristics makes a shotgun non-sporting:
Folding, telescoping, or collapsible stock
Bayonet lug
Flash suppressor
Magazine over 5 rounds or a drum magazine
Grenade launcher mount
Light enhancing device
Excessive weight (greater than 10 pounds for 12-gauge or smaller)
Excessive bulk (greater than 3 inches in width and/or greater than 4 inches in depth)
