USAR Direct Commission into a Basic Branch (ie - Combat Support Branch) is indeed available from civilian life.
I was prior-service (non-Army) but had long since been discharged from the IRR. So I was considered civilian. At BOLC, we also had two DCO's who were non-prior service who went through the 6-week Direct Commission Course at Benning before coming to BOLC. It's my understanding that the Basic Branch Direct Commission Board is intermittent and the requirements often change, including the ability to direct commission from civilian. |
