Tagged for same info. This seems like a great deal but my knowledge on bolt guns is very limited.

Is that barrel threaded, and if so what size threads?

I called Turners today and asked what is on the barrel. They told me all it said was 1-10". No name brand and the ad says it's a 1-11" twist.
I did some research and the barrel is made by Danning Armory which no one has heard of.
Here is a quote from a review I saw. "it looks like they were chambered by a monkey with a dull reamer".
I was bummed because I wanted to get one. I think the Remington 700 sps is probably a better gun and it's in Turners holiday ad.

That being said, retail on the action and the stock alone are about the same as the $700 + tax & DROS.

As previously stated, the barrel is marked 1 in 10" although the ad states that it is "1 in 11" Match Twist"; in addition, they couldn't seem to be able to afford a metal thread protector for the threaded muzzle...it had a black plactic cap!

i looked at one a few weeks ago when it was on sale (again). the specs looked good on paper but it felt cheap when compared to remington 700 ltr i've.

here's another calguns thread on this rifle:

I like the 700 5R "milspec" they have on sale. I have one and must say it shoots really well.

They didn't get the best reviews. Could be hit or miss. Not a bad price for an FN SPR action and McMillan stock.

Get one from Badger Ordinance or Near Manufacturing.

Turners has almost no selection on parts and accessories for the firearms they sell. I always found it interesting that they have a large selection of fishing supplies which is evident that is a slow seller compared to the huge demand for firearms. I they cut the fishing supplies in half and sold parts and accessories that people actually buy, I think they could easily see an additional 10% to their profit margin a month. AR and AK accessories and good scopes are all items that people are in need of.

I bought one of these on Saturday from the Turners in Oxnard. When I get a scope mounted I'll take it out and give everyone a range report - something I've never seen from any other "reviews" of this rifle. It'll be long after the sale ends, but at least I can provide some real data for everyone to see. Thank you to Turners for offering such a deep discount, at the coupon price I figured I'm taking minimal risk to check this rifle out.

Been through this before; I'd just go with the Rem 700, whichever flavor you like...It's not what it says it is, with that said, I'm sure it will do fine...
