Default Hellfighter maglock vs. others

Wondering if anyone has used the hellfighter mod kit from juggernaut tactical to be CA compliant. Seems they are promoting them at Turners and even putting them on new guns.

My question is has anyone used this product? If so do you like it and how hard is install.

Also curious if anyone has experience with ARmaglock brand?

I'm debating between the two. Would appreciate any feedback.

May not mean a lot coming from me but once we saw that product and were able to play with it a bit we were all thoroughly impressed. It seems to be one of the better solutions (aside from going featureless if you ask me), and also it's not us who are putting it on new guns but the mfgs themselves who saw it as a better solution to what else they were using. To me the combo of the hellfighter kit and the LWRC pin seems to be a winner if you're going the fixed mag route. Oh and installation is no different than from a regular take down pin.

I have the 33.3 tactical which is similar to juggernaut. I also have a patriot mag lock, which is like the AR mag lock. Iíve actually tried many variations of fix magazine. Even down to the $10.00 EP Armory one. What Iíve decided on is:
Maglock and using a BFD-10 magloader. I decided this because over time, the holes for both front and rear detach pins will wear down. This will mean a new lower or upper receiver... in time...

My idea of a fixed magazine to avoid registration. And using a magloader, which is pretty fast once your used it works very well.

Hope this helps...

Just came out today. Armaglock with Kingpin! It's $105, but watch the videos on the website and decide for yourself.

I went with the FC Hook for the same reasons. The BF10 makes loading easy and when I leave the state I just reinstall my regular mag catch in a minute or so.

I just received my Hellfighter kit and haven't opened the box yet. I have had some email communication with their sales dept. regarding whether this will make a rifle compliant and they've assured me it will. I'm going to install it this weekend and will report back. So far the customer support has been good, hope it continues.

thanks for posting this.

yeah guys. watch the video. this is the ONLY maglock system out there that allows you to clear double feeds.

you can still have bolt hold back.

my pin is much easier to install and take out and requires no extra tools.

if you need more info read up on this thread

I'm using it on an AR pistol. Seems to work quite nicely.

I put it on one of my rifles, and it's the best option I've ever used in CA. Better than a bullet button, and I prefer it to featureless.

Use JT with my own fixed mag mechanism.... Can't justify spending >$100 per rifle to keep it compliant. Unless you have only 1-2 system. I am also learning that fixed mag solution with BF10 and MEAN reloader system are the best and economical way to go as other people mention.

I happy for Protohyp finding a seller/distributor for his pin, which I want, but I'm disappointed they are only selling it as a kit. I don't need another maglock, and don't want to pay $55 for something I don't need just to get the pin I do.

The pin will be available on its own later. You can file down you gen 1 Maglock to work with this. Problem solved

I'm running the Juggernaut rear pin in conjunction with the Hogue Freedom Fighter Fixed magazine kit. In my opinion the best setup combination available. Uses the spring loaded rear pin while making a regular mil spec mag release fixed, all the while retaining the bolt catch. It's a win win

but can you clear a double feed without taking the gun apart or using a 10 round mag?

It's actually pretty simple. The opening clearance required to disengage the mag release button is really small. Carefully unlock the front pivot pin and lift approximately 1/8th of an inch and the mag release will unlock. Drop your mag, close the halves, then clear the action.

Sorry for the late reply, this is the mag kit that LWRC uses

https://www.hogueinc.com/ar-15-m-16-...pin-assemblies

It has a pin that prevents the mag release button from operating unless the upper and lower receiver are separated. No other modifications to the bolt catch or mag release. We are looking into carrying these as a standalone item as well.

All good, thank you for the info! Iím definitely afraid of drilling into my receiver. Iím 100% sure I can, Iím a diesel mechanic by trade. But Iím terrified of messing something up.

Is it also reversible by taking the pin out? Or should I say, would I be able to remove it and use a different solution in the future?

Thanks again for your insight!

just unscrew and remove the components, then it was like it never happened.. besides the hole you can't see unless you take it apart.

The best setup in my opinion is Cross Armory Quick Pins + Armaglock + Franklin Armory DFM bolt catch (will not catch bolt when empty because it takes more time to release bolt to break open AR to reload).

Sorry, I'm slacking with response time here. As someone else mentioned you could remove the components if out of state or want to go featureless and you will just have that hole you drilled.

I appreciate the enginuity... but I can already see the next round of regulations...

All I am trying to say is that while we make sure to keep our stuff "compliant" we should still be actively fighting the darn things.

I have the same setup (kingpin and hogue FF fixed mag) and you can absolutely clear a double feed. You can drop a mag with the bolt fully held back also. The clearance needed is minimal but when the receiver is closed the mag button is locked tight. 100% the best combo out there but you have to be willing to drill your lower.

It has a pin that prevents the mag release button from operating unless the upper and lower receiver are separated. No other modifications to the bolt catch or mag release. We are looking into carrying these as a standalone item as well.

Thanks for the info. If the Hellfighter mod is used on an LWRC rifle or AR pistol, is the Hogue Freedom Fighter kit necessary to make the firearm California compliant or does the Freedom Fighter kit have a different purpose?
