Here's my poor-man's SPR wanna-be. This was a remodel of my 16" AR. Wish I could afford all the real parts, but this will have to do for now. Can't wait to take it out this weekend Parts list:

- CMMG 18" MedCon upper w/ mid-length gas system & micro gas block
- Spikes Tactical lower receiver & custom-engraved ejection port cover
- RRA lower parts kit w/ two-stage trigger
- Ergo Tactical Deluxe pistol grip
- Ace Skeleton stock, rifle length
- JP Enterprises 15" hand guard
- DPMS Miculek muzzle brake / compensator
- Harris 6-9" lightweight bipod
- Nikon M-223 3-12x42SF scope, calibrated for .223/55gr/3240fps round
- Nikon M-223 742 scope mount, 20 MOA incline
- Nikon RSH-13 sunshade
- Raddlock Bullet Button

And what it looked like before the remodel:

what camera are you using to take pics (JCardona)? Those pics (and rifle) are incredible!

I have an 18" DPMS MK12 rifle en route. Have you guys used your SPRs with 18" barrels to do any "tactical carbine" classes? Just curious if the longer barrel / weight, was any problem over the duration of the course while shooting the rifle (obviously, not prone or from a bench)...

Yes, I'm familiar with the info off this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mk_12_S..._Purpose_Rifle but curious if you guys have done 1-2 days courses, shooting upward of 500+ rounds in a day while running around with the rifle, and "wishing" you had a shorter/lighter barrel. flame suit on...

Thx all,

Chib

lint on the front site

Upper is a DPMS Mark 12, 18" 416 SS Barrel 6 grooves, right-hand 1x8 twist, button rifled with ARMS front folding sight, and a MaTech rear sight.

The lower is a POF, with a Geissele 2 Stage Trigger, VLTOR A5 E-MOD, Magpul ASAP mount, Magpul 20 round rebuild, with Magpul Ranger Plate, Magpul MIAD Modular Grip

Thanks! I'm using a Nikon D90 and Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 lens. These pics were taken late at night. Used a slow shutter speed and a speedlight in a shoot-thru umbrella to the right of the camera

There are some very nice sticks in this thread!

Here's my SPR:

ADCO 18" upper/Mega lower

LMT 2 Stage trigger

DD Lite rail

I had the Ops Inc brake and collar on there but removed it so I can mount my SCAR heavy can (out of state)

USO SN4

Daddy likes!

I am just interesting-on many pics here rifles have scopes and flip-up sights (back up sights) in collapsed position right under the scopes. "In case" how you guys planning to use those flip-ups? There is no way they will go to open position while scope on the rifle. Or they are there just for look?
I am newbie in AR, so pardon my question please.

Palmaris,

The LaRue mount I use has quick detach levers and would take a couple seconds to take off the optic and flip up the sights. A lot of mounts have them, so that's why many are running BUIS.

Thanks a lot for explanation-now it makes sense. I need to look for quick detach mounting for my AR.

Man, there are some really nice setups here.

Swiss made Sig 550 with ACOG TA31F (green chevron reticule)

The group measures 0.97" center to center (9 shots, discounting the flier). Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to take it beyond 300 yards as that is the farthest any of the local ranges go out to.
