They're pretty quick about turning around permits as long as your prints are legible and your paperwork is complete. They received my application on a Monday and I had my permit on Saturday which means my permit was mailed out at most two days after they received my application. But this was before the news that NV would start recognizing AZ permits, so maybe they're getting a lot more applications now?

Do they have a Online application form that we can download and fill it up? Instead of wasting their paper and stamp just only to mail it to out of state applicant.

I doubt it. If there was, I'm sure they would be prompting people to use it instead of mailing it out. I would guess it is because of the print cards that are required.

Wait so, California residents can apply for CCW permits in the state of Arizona, which ultimately allows you to conceal carry in Nevada too? I thought you'd have to be a resident of AZ in order to apply for the permit, but for visitors you can conceal carry anyways without the permit because of their new law?
Edit: Nvm, did a little research, found out non-resident can apply for the same permit, pretty darn sweet. Last edited by nbkvig2; 05-17-2011 at 10:08 AM.. |

Does the fingerprinting need to be done by LE agency?
Edit: never mind fingerprinting does NOT need to be done by LE agency! Does anybody know a good place to be printed in modesto/tracy/stockton area?

This is exciting as the Utah CCW doesn't cover either AZ or NV. I will apply ASAP as I am planning a road trip throughout the Southwest in a couple of months.
To what e-mail address should I send my request for the application package? If this was covered in the previous posts, I apologize. I hurried through all the posts because I'm anxious to get going and am excited by the prospect. Thanks in advance, Dave |

Jim,
I went to a UPS store near my house. The 5714 Folsom Blvd., 7485 Rush River Drive and 9175 Kiefer Blvd. ($15/card) all do fingerprinting. Jeff |

MoBait,
Thanks. I e-mailed and already got a response that they will be sending the application package. Very cool! I understand the New Mexico also accepts the AZ licence. If so, with the UT and AZ license, I should be gtg in all western states, excpet maybe OR, and of course, our beloved CA! |

I, too, sent away for my application packet. I am advised it has been mailed.
Question to those who have already received their packet: Does Arizona, like Florida, insist the fingerprinting be performed by a "Law Enforcement" entity, or will Arizona accept non law enforcement?

Back in December it took about 8 days to get mine. A few corrections:
Arizona does honor Utah. Reciprocity and recognition are different things. An AZ permit allows carry into places that sell alcohol as long as they haven't posted signs that must conform to state standards. However being a non-resident is one affirmative defense to a violation. The key statutes are here: http://www.azleg.gov/ars/13/03112.htm http://www.azleg.gov/ars/4/00229.htm http://www.azleg.gov/ars/13/03102.htm |

Found one. For Sacramento area Roseville PD does ink prints. $15 first card, $20 if you do two, $30 for 3 in case anyone wants to get UT and FL prints done at the same time. Notary is extra $10.
Roseville Police Department 1051 Junction Blvd. Roseville, California, 95678 916-746-1039 Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment |

Thanks. Didn't know UPS did ink prints too. I thought they were just Live Scan. Roseville PD is cheaper for multiple as long as you are in the area.

That seems expensive. My local sheriff's office does it for $5/card. That's in FL though.

I got my Arizona CCW about two years ago while I was there. Had to do an 8hr class and qualify at the range. Has this changed and not needed any more to get a AZ CCW??
sorry didnt mean to hijack... just curious

I Love QUICK Government Response
I submitted a request for information regarding the Arizona CCW via their e-mail link last night about midnight. I had a reply with a statement at the bottom that they would mail me an application packet today at about 10 AM!!!
Hopefully I will have my Arizona CCW before my roadtrip at the end of June! Frank Q. |

Couple questions:
1) Still seems to be some confusion as to whether AZ will honor a CA CCW permit and/or the 8 hour CCW course that you took to get the CA CCW 2) What will an NV police officers stance be if he is shown a CA driver;s license and an AZ CCW permit?

As far as the fingerprint cards go, if it doesn't have to be done by a LE agency, then why not do them yourself? Problem with getting the ink? Needs to be notarized? What's the deal?
Shouldn't be an issue of using someone else's prints, because many people's prints should already be on record. Especially if you already have a CA CCW. They should be able to verify that the prints match the name on the application..
