It's a good deal cheaper than last costco deal but without lifetime warranty. Also extra door sensor and motion sensor than regular pack for 199.99

I have the ring alarm, doorbell and flood light. Love the fact that everything is monitored in one app. Started with the doorbell and flood light cam, $10/ month or $100/year if paid in full for unlimited cloud camera storage.

Because I had already paid for the camera storage, when I added the ring alarm, I got professional monitoring at no extra charge. The $10/month includes the cameras AND alarm monitoring. Cheapest price per month when you think of everything it includes.

Question

Ugh I HATE the idea of buying hardware and having to pay a subscription for eternity to use it. I need another endless monthly bill like a hole in my head. Are there any good systems that include the ability to add cameras that don't require that I pay for it until I die?

$188 for the 8-piece kit is a very good deal.
It's normally $199 for the 5-piece kit. This adds a 2nd motion sensor and two additional door/window sensors.
The door/window sensors are normally $40 for a pair, and the motion sensors are $30, so you're getting $270 worth of product for $188

You don't have to pay for the basic functions. It will arm and disarm and alert you on your mobile app without subscribing to active monitoring.

But it's only $100/year for monitoring, and that includes unlimited cloud storage for unlimited number of Ring camera/doorbell devices.
The camera/doorbells are normally $30/year for 60 days storage, or $100/year for unlimited cams/storage... adding the alarm system if you are already on the $100/yr plan is no added charge.
I'm not sure how the cameras work if you don't pay at least the $30 for cloud storage. I *think* the doorbell and cameras still work, but only for live video, no way to review the past.

If you want to be self-contained, then be prepared to pay more up-front and buy a DVR and network cameras... you can still access from your phone, but if your personal network is down, you can't retrieve any video.

Often it's not hard to cut power... For that reason I don't like a system that is network primary... Cell based with network backup is a better choice (imo)

Ring's base, keypad, and network extender are all battery-backed.
Sensors are all primary battery (3 year battery life, CR123 I think).
Base has a cellular backup so if your network connection is severed, IF you are paying the $100/year for monitoring, it has an LTE connection through ATT to call the call center... Rapid Response, Corona is the local office.

DIY. https://suretydiy.com/how-it-works/

Do some research here and get the same or better hardware than all the major contract offerings. Fully wireless and 1/2 day of work. You can get sensors from these guys, Amazon, or eBay. I pay $8/mo with no contract for self monitoring including fire. Not having central station monitoring works for me since the local PD here will not respond to alarms unless they are confirmed meaning visual confirmation. I have a separate video system for that. Everything managed through my phone or tablet using Alarm.com and my camera app. I can tell if someone is in my house in less than 30 seconds. Invest in hardware up front, then no contract and as low as $8/mo. Ive been setup like this for 5-6 years now and never looked back.

We use them mostly for monitoring, but it's pretty easy to use them for motion and I like how it notifies you of motion then you can manually flip on the cameras and see what's up.

Right now they are on sale at Amazon.. three cameras and unit for $155ish.. not a crazy deal (which I got last black friday) but good for what you get.

No monitoring though
