We discussed the power drill trimmers, here is the one no one had. Possum Hollow.

I went a head and ordered the 223 trimmer and adepter, I'll have a opinion soon.

Since the group was presented with an RCBS Chargemaster powder scale at the "show and tell" during our last meeting ...

I saw that Midsouth Shooters has the complete combo on sale right now for $289.95.

@SacJDog,
Save yourself a lot of time and just run all your cases thru the trimmer. The ones that are over 1.750 will be trimmed and the ones below wont. It's a lot faster then measuring each case just to find the ones that need trimming. It also makes your brass uniform length.

Any suggestions for topics at the next meeting? I have a couple ideas, but would like to hear from everyone else.

Why don't we open it up to questions from the more inexperienced?

Thanks everyone for the help at the last meeting, I just finished my first batch of 223 and shot them at Cordova on Sunday. Started with the mid load and laddered up 0.3 to the next load as recommended (20.1, 20.4, 20.7, 21.0). Found 20.7 worked the best. Some things I learned: I used way too much lube in resizing and might be too aggressive with chamfer and deburring. Anyway still have all my fingers and everything worked without issue.

At the next meeting I would be interested in any tips to improve my process.
For one I Could never get the rcbs powder measure to drop consistently. I added the baffle, but it would occasionally get stuck on the upstroke. I'm using IMR 4198, so is this unavoidable with any stick powder?

Stick powders just don't meter well. If you are just looking for decent plinking it usualy won't matter. If you are going for true accuracy than you are going to want to set your powder measure a little light and trickle to your desired weight.

I'll second that. I try to use ball or flake powders when ever possible. When I load for my high power rifles, I follow M27's advise.

I'll be there with a large selection of CalGuns and CGSSA hats, shirts, stickers and other merchandise that we normally sell at the gun shows if anyone is interested in purchasing.

I'm waiting to here back from the my higher-ups about special pricing.

I just got clearance from the state gun show coordinator to offer some special prices on merchandise at the reloading club meeting.

Calguns or CGSSA Short or Long Sleeve T-shirts $15, 2 for $25 or 4 for $45
Calguns or CGSSA Hats - $7 for solid colors, $9 for Realtree Camo, $10 for Digital Camo (Khaki or Pink)

I'll also have license plate frames, stickers, gun case tags, hat pins and a few other items, so bring all the cash you can find!!!

I can bring a Possum Hollow trimmer and a WFT if anybody wants to see them.

@sacjdog

Flip your Powder measure around so you dump on the down stroke. It will cut the stick powder better that way. I use a lot of 4198 because I can get 368 loads of .223 to a
LB. mine hardly ever hangs up.

This is a pretty good place for powder and primers. The thing I have learned is that if you stop by about every week the inventory changes. If you don't see the powder you like one time, try back a week later, it will probably be there.

I know there was talk last meeting about doing a demo class on a Saturday morning for any newbies who might not know where to start with the process (aside from personal research). Is this still an option?

Be careful guys. Ferrum just sat through 2 days of NRA lecture to become a certified NRA instructor. He's gonna be grumpy Wednesday!

Do him a favor and speak in a really bad, Vietnamese woman's voice. It will comfort him.
