I've got Skinner's "tactical" rear receiver and tall post front on my Marlin 336. The front took a bit of filing to get into the dovetail, but it's solid. I also needed to file it down bit to get zeroed at 100 yards. The rear is a nice piece, but best set up once, and then left alone once sighted properly. What do you want to know?

So you don't adjust the rear site to shoot less or more than 100 yards? Just shoot high or low? Was thinking if I get it to sight it in for 50 yards since it I would shoot from 25 - 125 yards.

I figure 100 yards is a good general purpose zero, putting me a couple of inches high within 100 yards, good enough for offhand shooting, and a bit more reach past 100. I'm not all that familiar with the ballistics of the 30-30 (haven't had it long), so a 50 yard zero might work just fine.
