Can GSPs waterfowl hunt as well? Or just upland game?

Yup, I've seen a few guys post pics of their GSPs hunting waterfowl. But from what I understand they aren't as physically adapted to cold water.

His dogs do both very well infact NAVHDA as a VC dog must be steady on the shot and do a big pond search.

Beau, the male is known for finding everyone's dead ducks and a few live ones. It's all what you put into them when they're young. But yeah it's not a lab if your a duck only guy.

Thanks for the info. I would prefer a lab, as I don’t quail hunt that often. But also something on the smaller side would be great. Which is what lead me to the GSPs.

While upland dogs can hunt waterfowl the trick is getting them to sit still. I breed and train labs and springers and the springers can be difficult in the blind at times. Highwildfree sent you a pm just sent my British lab back east to be breed

High, don't forget their are three type of body sized labs. Theirs the English lab which is smaller than the American lab with it's big block head and a 100lbs dog.
Then theirs some guys breeding a slimmer lab that's a field trial labs size.

All three have pros & cons do your research and you'll be a happier hunter.

Yup, my male is 60lbs when lean, and around 65lbs+ when bulked up in season. My younger female is 55lbs. Waiting on their genetic tests to come back, if everything checks out I'll be having a litter with them in a year. Hoping for pups that end up in the middle of the two when they are adults.

Some guys really like their 90-110lb labs. Nothing against them, just not for me. Something about those smaller labs man, their drive seems to be totally different. Plus, easier to pick up and they don't kill you when they jump on you on the couch.

One of these days I'll cave and get a GSP. They are just awesome dogs all around. Something about them. I just don't know anything about training pointers so I'd probably have to set aside around $5,000 to get him trained by someone who knows what they are doing.

their are 3 types of lab British labs that I breed are out of field trial stock imported from Britain, Ireland and Scottland. British labs are smaller 50- 65lbs calmer and excellent bird dogs. English style are American show dogs. American field labs taller and tend to be more High strung.

I read that as “German Shepard Puppies” and thought they looked a bit weird.
