Default Received New Registration Number Today

Received new registration letter today.
Submitted online on 8/22
Received e-mail from D.O.J. on 9/22
Received registration number 10/12
Now for the kicker: the New Number is the same as my old one
from the 2000 registration.
The new letter also lists the rifles from 2000 on it.

The registration numbers correspond to your location in GPS coordinates as well...

A bit confused here. Are you saying you have two different rifles - one registered in 2000 and one in August - with one registration number? That would be weird...

Yes.
The new registration letter has the same number that was issue to me back in 2000 and
the letter has make, model and serial number of the previous registered rifles listed below
the new one.

Senate Bill 23 Assault Weapon Characteristics
Home Firearms Regulations Senate Bill 23 Assault Weapon Characteristics
Effective January 1, 2000, Senate Bill 23, Statutes of 1999, establishes new criteria for defining assault weapons based on generic characteristics. This bill allows and requires persons who own/possess firearms that fall under the new "assault weapon" definition to register those firearms with the Department of Justice during the one-year period between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2000. Effective January 1, 2000, this bill adds Penal Code Section 12276.1 to the Penal Code as follows.

If it was previously registered as an assault weapon, then you do not have to re-register it during this registration time period. [PC 30965]

That is an interesting bit of information that the DOJ commingled pre 2000 awb and pre 2017 awb rifles. Keep your old letter for sure.

It bodes well for our anti-BB theories.

Yep, sounds like they lumped them together.

I have a 2000 RAW, looking forward to seeing it on the same list as the new ones. Try and explain to an LEO that this one on the list is exempt from a BB and the next one isn't. They keep shooting themselves in the foot.

What if they make you have a bb on all? Maybe they want you to explain and that's why they listing them together.

The other thing is that (and if someone can correct me, please do) is they have never provided full instructions for this process correct? IE. Apart from the regulations that we've had to dig to find, they haven't openly provided the info. I was expecting people to get paperwork along with the letter saying what they can and cannot do (similar to how the ATF operates) with a RAW.

If you expect people to follow the regulations, why hide the regulations if you get what I'm saying.

Its not in the regulations as such, however.

It's possible, anything is possible in CA.

Back in 1989 they ran commercials on TV and had pamphlets in gun stores. They had nada in 2000 and 2001. Now nothing in 2017. How they can expect people to know what to do is completely insane and borders on entrapment and is probably illegal.

I also have two rifles registered on 2000 RAW. I just registered 6 yesterday. It would be interesting to see the new letter.

Can someone show me what the letter looks like? I received a letter from the DoJ but it was worded kind of weird. I only had about 15 seconds to glance at it before I had to leave and it's currently in Pismo with the rifle I registered. What's weird is it basically stated it's unlawful to use a registered assault weapon and that I have to notify the DoJ when I either surrender it or transfer it out of state. Like I said, I don't have it with me and won't for over a week and now I'm worried something went wrong and I got denied or something.
Thanks in advance for any help.

That's the letter. Read it again when you get a chance.

Yea, the wording is bizarre. It just says "Assault Weapon Registration Notification - Registration Number XXXXXX" and then a list of your AWs and serial #'s

The two blurbs at the bottom point to the penal code on how RAWs can be legally used and how they must be "disposed" of.

It's all a trap. Resist. Do any of you really trust the State of California?

I was born here so I know all about Excremento. They get nothing from me because they have taken away too much already.
