I have some of those I bought several years ago. They work pretty good. I have now started buying the ones like those that have built in batteries. Most come with a small solar panel. The provide plenty of light and when the battery dies i can recharge/run them off of battery banks.

Interesting.

I have a few of these in 10, 30, and 60 day versions. As long as I have a reasonable supply of batteries, I'm good.

Yep, I have several of those paired with usb chargers that run on 2 AA batteries, that I got from American Science and Surplus. I can use my goal zero panel to charge the enloops that will run those bulbs.

I stopped using a lantern for camping after I found these.

Yes, I saw those, and they look like a good option, but how much loss (resistance) is there with that long cable?

I have been digging into some USB options, but while not as convenient as a just buying a device that has all needs covered, I have tested a few options.

This thing cranks out some light for through-hole:

For .04A these are a treat and at like $1 for 10 of them, one can't beat these easily:

Thinking of dropping a few of them in parallel (4x .04A=.16A?), at different angles.

I clipped one of the cheap sticks to a 18650 (4.2v) and it was still usable for kid bathroom use w/out the loss from the 5v USB conversion with the resistors still in-line.

The Harbor Freight mod is being over-driven a bit, enough to warp the reflector, but with the light output, it isn't much of a concern @ what... <$2.99?

I was actually looking for more USB LED sticks and comparing double-sided, and 2, 3, and 4-LED sticks, but can't find the 4-LED-style I have, with the LEDs on the top...

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know a source for bendable USB extensions that hold position (like old Gumby and Pokey action figures)?
Like these, but with a male and female at the other end:
After stripping off the defuser, these are pretty-nice:

This is close to what you ask for. Not plastic but old school flex conduit.
