Default WEGC 3/11/18

The monthly C&R shoot is coming up on Sunday, March 11

Everyone is welcome!

The range is private, but we usually have enough members to take new people as guests. If you are thinking of going and are not a member, please post here, we'll try to make sure we can get you signed in (cost for guests is $10 for the whole day)

Range information:

http://www.wegc.org/wordpress/

Directions to the range:

http://www.wegc.org/wordpress/?page_id=9

Congratulations to Vityaz for winning the neutrality shoot with 4/5 hits with a Swedish M38.

This month's theme: antiques and garbage rods. Bring your antique (pre 1898) rifle out. Also the most beat, ugliest C&R rifle you own.

For me it'll be a nasty Type 53 Mosin for the garbage rod shoot and an antique M39 (yes, cheating!) for the antique shoot.

You can't wait, can you? I will be using an M39 for the antique shoot as well (1894 Chatellerault receiver). For the Garbage Rod shoot it's either a Type 53, a Chilean M1912/61, or an M28 Civil Guards rifle. I'll bring all three and let you decide which one is "ugliest"

And hopefully we will get to see a very cool gun chambered in 303 Brit!

Nope, I had to get the ball rolling. Especially for other members that are new to the shoot and open up the day.

I know of at least one very cool gun in 303 Brit coming, hopefully, looking at you Syntax Error.

My antique will also be an M39 - at least I'll be in good company.

Yes, hopefully Syntax Error will have his new gun by then. I'll bring my P14 as well.

My only antique is a M39 (Sestroryetsk)

I had a garbage rod gun perfect for this shoot, heavily sanded unfinished worn T53, the stock looked like an old just peeled potatoes with eyes growing. But alas its been sold long ago.

Also the Very Cool .303 Brit should hopefully be making it to this shoot...the seller finally shipped out the items in the mail, and then 4-5 business days to reach the FFL, and then there's the 10 day jail. All hopefully done before 3/11.

I'll be bringing a very cool 7.62x54R gun, not the Maxim. And yes, we will shoot it

Really hoping to make it out next month. Was all set to go Sunday and ended up getting knocked out with a high fever and a nasty cough Saturday night. Just got out of the house for the first time today.

I think I've got a Turk Mauser that will might qualify as an antique garbage rod

One of these times I plan to make the range trip. When, is any body's guess but I've got some jim-dandy antique rifles from the Civil War. 1863 Wm Mason .58 caliber contract rifle-musket ( only 30K of them made for the US gov't) and a .50 caliber, breech-loading Smith Carbine, one of 50K purchased by the gov't. I need to have a bullet casting session first.

I hope that one comes in time! SMG has had it for repair since the November shoot.

Nope, this one is different

Musketjon, it's very rare that we have true BP guns at the shoots. It always attracts a huge crowd and is awesome to see!

Well, my case finally went through and state and federal gun rights got restored, so I'm looking to celebrate. Will be out there with a +1, if someone would be able to get us in as guests please? It's been 3 years since I last went and let my WEGC membership lapse.

I'm back and I'm definitely in for the shoot, will have a couple of super cool C&R sniper rifles (factory made in .308!). Anyone want to guess what they are?

shda5582, I remember you from the shoots, congrats on getting your rights back!! What will be the first C&R you'll shoot? I'm betting it'll be a mosin

81turbota, I have an antique 28/76, but that would be cheating even more than an m39

Run what you brung! If the receiver is pre-1899, it counts. You still have to get the hits - they don't shoot themselves.

For the .308 win C&R sniper rifles, I am gonna guess L42A1

Unfortunately, I will be out of town for the garbage rifle competition but I will post a couple proxies the night before the shoot. Unless you have a shootable rifle that spent much of its life buried in the back yard, or as an anchor for your boat or for pounding fence posts into the ground, I will win this one hands down. Where my trophy at?

Ty! Glad to finally feel like a full citizen again.

And while it's tempting to shoot her first, I actually have a new (to me) C&R that I'm bringing. I had to wait for DOJ to update their records before I could have it transferred over, but it should be cleaned and prepped in time for the shoot.

I should be there, I'll bring my 1891 Argentine for the antique competition. I've got a few garbage rods to chose from, shot out K98, counter bored Mosin and a G24(t) that has seen better days!

I've got a Arisaka with a bubba'd stock, a .257 Roberts barrel and a Lyman peep sight. Does that qualify for an ugly C&R?

81turbota and/or Vityaz are running the "Garbage Rod" portion, since one or both of them came up with the idea. So I will defer to them on that one. I am doing the "Antique Shoot" so if you have one of those, bring it as well. If not, I should have an antique you can borrow for the competition

There usually are open benches after 10am or so, it shouldn't be a problem. I would check with the limited members posting here if they have any available slots for sign-in if you don't have a membership, though.

You are suggesting that it's better to show up after 10 than before 8?

If you show up at 8 you'll easily find a bench available. Traffic tends to peak between 8-10 to 11ish and starts to clear out again by noon.

Speaking of....

I find myself in need of 2 slots total if someone would please be kind enough to help me out in that regard
