Default Addax-Calguns Lower Receiver Group Buy Idea

Hello,

We are considering making a run of Calguns AR15 Lower Receivers with either Calguns logo or California Bear logo or Calguns Foundation logo (added 8/27/12), and running a special Group Buy for these lowers, and we plan to donate $10.00 per lower sold to assist the Calguns Foundation.

Calguns Senior Member Kaligaran has volunteered to be the Group Buy coordinator.

At this point we are trying to see if there is enough serious interest in having us manufacture a special run of Calguns or California Bear logo's lower receivers to assist.

We will also offer a laser engraving service at a special group buy discounted price (price TBD based on the size and complexity of the logo or saying) on the right side of the receiver for those members who want to have a customized logo or saying.

If you are seriously interested, please let Kaligaran know via PM, so Kaligaran can get a list / count and see if we have enough members to start the process.

If there is enough interest (50 minimum) we will follow up with details such as cost, payment details, and Estimated Lead Time.

Thank you,
Addax Tactical

UPDATE 10/8/12

The following are the CGF Laser Engraved logo on a mock up of the Calguns Foundation Group Buy Lower. All other markings will be machine engraved and then anodized over (in black), while the CGF logo will stand out on the black background as you see in the pictures below.

CGF Laser Engraved on AR15 Lower Receiver

CGF logo being laser engraved onto AR15 lower receiver

Other Markings engraving template for CGF Group Buy Lower (these will be machined engraved, then Anodized over, so these markings will be in the black).

Will they be 80% or 100% lowers / finished or raw aluminum?

These would be 100% finished lowers.

We are going to try and target $99.00-$110.00 price range (not including DROS, Sales Tax, Shipping or Custom Laser Engraving).

We will provide a final cost per lower when we have enough takers to warrant us going into production, purchasing new forgings etc.

Thanks,
AT

I'm in, but I would like to see a proof of the logo.

If its a Calguns logo, I would probably buy several. A Cal bear logo, might only be a single buy.

PM Sent. I live out of state now, but I wouldn't mind having a new lower. Especially a nice one like this.

We are waiting to hear back from Kestryll to see if he will give us permission to use the Calguns.net logo or a version of it that will fit/work on an AR15 lower, and that can be machined engraved.

We will not have any sample/proof until we move forward with this Group Buy, and we can work on the artwork etc.

I've never built my own have been thinking about it. How do these compare to other more expensive lowers?

Our forged lowers are Mil-spec 7075-T6, with the Mil-spec Hard Anodizing finish, and each lower is precision machined from a high quality forging.

You would be getting a high quality forged lower receiver from us for less $$ compared to some of the more expensive but equal quality forged lower receivers from some of the other companies.

Here are some pics of our Addax Forged Mil-spec lower so you can see for yourself. The Calguns group buy lower we are thinking about running would be the quality lower, with a different logo (Calguns or California Bear Logo).

A lower is a lower. Some cost more because people are willing to pay more for a name or logo. I paid more for an Addax billet lower because, I wanted to support a local manufacturer. Also, his billet lowers are easier to assemble due to a set screwsreplacing the roll pin and another holding in the rear takedown detent.

In for 1 or 2 (depending on final pricing) + another stripped lower currently in stock at that time... this would be a great addition to my collection

So for ive received 27 unique pms from members. Most saying they want more than one if we get the calguns logo.

I've visiting home (Tennessee) through labor day so I'm not online much. But I'll check my pm's and this thread daily on my phone.
Going to be talking to addax early this upcoming week. Hopefully we'll get even more interest by then (we need 50 member minimum).

Interested. Since Addax is only a couple blocks away wouldn't be an issue to just walk over and pick up up. Maybe I'll get some Taco Bell on the way back lol.

Id be interested if CGN logo, but I'm moving out of state in a week (part of why only interested if CGN/CGF). But since these are 100%, this makes purchase difficult. Ideas?

Please follow the instructions on Addax's initial thread and PM me if interested. That way it will be much easier to respond to you guys with additional info and keep track since this thread will most likely have LOTS of replies.

If this does go through, in addition to updating our group buy threads, I'll also email all of those that have contacted me directly via PM to make sure no one slips through the cracks.

Here's the list of members that have PM'd me thus far with questions or "I'm ins" as Addax instructed in the origional post:

I know many have said in their pm's that they want more than one, I'm just tracking individual member's interests. When this buy materializes we'll handle the quantity requests then.

FFLs willing to help out with discounted transfer fees. Note these have been told to us by members on this thread. You'll need to contact the FFL for additional information.

************************ UPDATE 8/29/12 *********************

Just had a long discussion with Addax and everything is moving right along.

CGF has granted us permission to use the awesome Calguns Foundation logo.
We also hope to have some cool CGF serial numbers for this too but those details are pending.

In addition, Addax has been extremely diligent in working to secure some high quality forgings for this buy. I personally want to thank them for their work on helping pull this effort together. The election year has put a strain on most manufaturers as demand has skyrocketed and they have been great with helping pull this group buy/fundraiser together.

So what does that all mean?

Within about 2-3 weeks from now we hope to have the forgings secured and have a moch up of the actual lower that will be used with the buy. Addax has their graphic designers working with CGF to make sure the logo looks sexy on these lowers.

Once we have finalized all of the details, everyone that I have received a PM from will receive all of the details as well as a mach up of the final design for the group buy.
We'll include all the info you need for payment, FFL transfers (if not picking up at Addax), shipping costs, etc.
At that point the actual group buy will begin and instructions/deadlines will be provided on the next steps to confirm your participation.
