Default What is the best way to attach some Mosins and SKS rifles to a wall?

Looking to display some old Mosins and SKS rifles on a wall. I have seen some great displays but don't know how to do it.
Of course, it goes without saying that the wall needs to be in a safe and secure room that is locked up.

Legally, if the room is behind a locked heavy duty door, does that constitute keeping the guns in a secure place? Obviously not a gun safe, but would it be considered responsible and secure?

I think it depends on if you have kids or prohibited persons in the home and if they can gain access.

Are you talking about a kind of display where you can't see how the rifles are "attached" to the wall?

If not, there are many hanger options.

I have never used one of these racks but I think that they are really cool. I have nothing to do with the seller.

peg board

it's not drop dead gorgeous or anything, but it allows for multiple set ups and excellent flexibility

After consuming a generous quantity of Russian vodka take battle grip upon the rifle and run at the wall with a yell for motherland Russia and skewer the bayonet into the product of capitalist scum sheetrock.

Pick the wall you want to hang it from.

Fix bayonet.

Now, throw.

Stick weld them to any column or gate that is near. 1/8" 6010 rod at 320-350 amps should do fine. Use multi pass flare-bevel groove weld procedure. Don't forget to fill the craters, and peen at least 12" around the weld with a high pressure needle gun.

What is wrong with GunSmoke Sheriff's Office rifle storage rack? It should be easy to spot in most any of the re-runs.

It will certainly work. If you are a DIY guy you could make your own that will look much better.

How many rifles are you planning to hang on the wall? Are you thinking ahead? Will more rifles end up on the wall?

https://www.amazon.com/Wall-Control-.../dp/B001J6FSDS

https://m.lowes.com/pd/Project-Sourc...hoC54EQAvD_BwE

Total Cost about $200.

Be certain not to display near windows where they can be viewed from outside. Prevent break ins...

Displaying rifles in racks horizontally is a waste of space, and does not allow you to view the tops of the rifles where most of the markings are visible. Also in earthquake areas they are prone to simply falling off racks with a small quake.

Vertical storage with the top of the rifles facing out is the best, and most secure method.

I think in the pics below there are 72 or so rifles displayed. The muzzles of each rifle is retained by the rack so as to not allow movement from knocking it off the rack.

I'm not knocking capt14k's horizontal method... However in the space where he has 18 rifles displayed you could fit almost four times as many displaying them vertically.

Plus the racks are pretty, and can be sized to fit any wall.

I agree about the space SVT-40 and I need to build something like that for the rest of my collection in the other room. Right now that room is a mess.

I am also building a third room. I plan on putting up another 2 wall boards for displaying bayonets. I also would like to find one of those Vidmar Milsurp 59" wide tool draw chest. They can display 7 Mosin M91 per draw and a whole lot of bayonets.

I'm not in an Earthquake area but if I was I would probably secure the rifles with the security straps like they have in gunshops.

I'm thinking the crested rifles on the vertical racks like SVT-40 has, My favorite rifles without crests on the wall like I have along with my Finn Bayonet collection and the rest of the rifles and bayonets in the tool draws.

I found hot glue to be the ticket for sks rifles. Also cleans the cosmoline off when you rip them off.
