Here is the the next build, a Polish kit on a DCI receiver which will become a permentaly fixed single shot. The gas port is sealed shut with high temp. silver solder. U.S. parts include: receiver, FCG, brake, stock, floorplate, follower
here is the insideof the gas block after filling with silver solder, I also had to shorten the gas piston becasue of the solder if you notice the hand guards it started life as a underfolder it is currently a screw build with a broken tap in the rear block until I can get someone to drill or mill it out. Then probably going to rivit it together the wood was soaked in acetone to clean it and finished with a clear poly, the metal was just roughed up with steelwool and degreesed, and sprayed with Alumni- hyde II in a semi-gloss and then #000 steelwool Last edited by wayoutwest; 04-29-2006 at 9:38 AM.. |

Hungarian SA85 built on a Global 1.6mm receiver (special thanks to wayoutwest for helping me with my first build.)
Before paint After paint buttstock looks discolored due to the painters tape being left on there for 2 days. Wood looks normal now. Last edited by Snuffalofogus; 06-03-2006 at 11:37 AM.. |

Hello All!!!!
I am a new member as of today wanted to thank you all for this awesome site. I live here in Sol Cal and enjoy guns a lot. I started off with 1911 .45 and went on to .308 bolt action before I got into military surplus arms, SKS and other fun shooting Cal legal stuff. I was in the Army in 1986 so I looked into building a AR 15 but the only thing I came up with was the FAB 10 and The Bushmaster Cal Legal that had the mag wall welded...Looks wierd. If you guys can help with information on Ca legal AR 15 build that would be sweet and I would also like to know how to go about the Ca legal AK build.
Thanks, Mark |

The first thing you should do is read the FAQ in red at the top of all the pages. That will help you understand the current situation. If you have other basic questions (which you probably will) feel free to PM me. And remember, the search function is your friend . |

1. Do a bit of reading in the off-list forum. Also read the FAQ up at the top of the page for an overview of the law - what configurations are legal. 2. Decide whether fixed mags annoy you more than no 'evil features'. 3. Buy your rifle parts online - www.coldwarshooters.com and www.ddsranch.com are both very familiar with California issues. 4. Buy your California-compliance parts. If you go fixed, you want a fixed mag kit; if you want detachable mags, then you want either an SRB or a Monsterman grip.

DSA 58 tactical carbine. Nice length and handy but with the original stock the recoil really beat up my cheek because the line of sight was too low for the buttstock drop.
I got rid of that stock and got a replacement through Entreprise that more closely followed the original FN stock. Much better to shoot! |

The promag bipod is junk.
Sammy invest in an all steel bipod instead of one with plastic feet. Youll be happy you did. I got both of mine from sellers on hkpro for about 140 each. Gordon Miller (hkspecialist.net) sells new ones, but they are expen$ive.

Does this count as a 7.62?? It's .30 cal, self loading, and PRK legal
Mid-1943 Winchester M1 Garand. I like to think maybe it fought it's way ashore on Tarawa or Iwo, or maybe tore across Europe from Normandie to the Bulge, or maybe even Inchon or the Chosin Reservior. I'll never know.
