Default Vortex kicks ***!!!!!!

Folks,

I have owned a lot of scopes. Zeiss, SWFA SS, Leupold etc. Many lower end, and lower mid range Vortex scope. But holy ****, I purchased a Vortex Viper PST
43128. 6x24x50 FFP, EBR2, from Bass Pro for $808 OTD.
Zero stop, Horus style reticle, illuminated and the glass is spectacularly clear from 6X to 24X. Shot out to 915 yards and was dead on. Glass is without a doubt the best I have ever owned. Colors are sharp and bright at distance, and absolute legacy buy once, cry once Scope. A2

While I do like vortex Optics a lot. Being zeroed out of the box is pure luck. Unless I misunderstood what you were getting at.

BigTwin,

They are not zeroed out of the box. At this trim level, the scope comes with shims that allow me to retain zero know matter how high I go. I spin the turret as low as it will go, then set it to zero wham!. A2

Vortex makes some really nice stuff, I laugh at the naysayers.
But then again when you look through a Swarovski or US optics they reaffirm the fact you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the clarification USMC, your first post made it sound a little different, that's why I said what I said. But now I understand where you're coming from

If you ever have to use it (I did) their customer service and warranty is the best. It's literally the best for anything ever made.

I had a minor issue with a pair of binoculars that needed to be sent back and I had a prepaid shipping label within 24 hours. My bino's only have 10x magnification but they are so clear, I could see things more defined at distance than binos offering double the level of magnification.

I am a vortex customer for life.

to be fair, it's more about who the OEM of the scope is. vortex viper is made in japan, right? I believe they're Light Optical Works?

Been happy with my Vortex scopes. Started off with a Crossfire, then went with Diamondback, and now enjoying my Viper. Good stuff.

I have a total of 6 PST scopes, both gen 1 and gen 2. Been a fan since they first came out. I agree they're the best bang for the buck out there.

I’m a hunter and while Vortex scopes track well I find their low light performance lacking in the Viper, Diamondback and Crossfire lines.

I have three Vortex optics and they are a steal. From my experience, you cannot go wrong with anything Vortex.

PST scopes are typically Philippines glass. Razor line is Japanese. Philippines glass is a good choice for those that don't wanna spend money on Japanese glass.

Philippines glass? No.

Assembled in the Philippines? Yes.

Razors are now assembled in Japan and the U.S. The public has no idea of the country of origin of the glass for either line.

Best warranty in the business, no doubt. Good products for sure.

But their prices have crept up in the last 3 years, and IMO, outside of the razor line, their glass quality is lacking for the price you pay.

My Nikon FX glass is definitely better in clarity and resolution for the same price. However, the turrets are mushier.

I’d never speak a bad word about Vortex and support them 100%. But there are lots of other brands out there that are offering more for less....

True. But from my experience with the new PST 1-6x, which was made in the Philippines, I was not impressed. I sold it for a Japanese made 1-4x Trijicon Accupower and am very glad I did. The Trijicon is much better at 1x and has much better clarity IMO

Vortex has shown they are for real. They have become like Nikon, Leupold and others offering scopes and binoculars at nearly every price point. Their warranty is the best out there

I’ve always been underwhelmed by Vortex glass except for the Razor line.

The Vortex warranty is great and none are better. But they weren’t the first, Leupold was.

The names we trust have been around for generations. We trust them to be backing their products for generations to come.

Vortex since 2002?

What year did Vortex gain steam?

Do you trust that Vortex will be here generations from now?

It matters to some.

The PST Viper was one of my first FFP optics and it served me well before I eventually moved on to a Gen2 Razor and NF ATACR F1. I never had to use Vortex’ warranty, but it was great knowing it was second to none.

I'm willing to bet that Vortex is going to be here for quite a while. Their parent company has been around almost 30 years and Vortex itself is almost 17 years old. They are for real.

I like that scope, but the reticle is too busy for me. Prefer something less complicated. B.

Nope, they are going nowhere. Ask guys who are in the military still using their products. Theyll be around for the long haul. They're newer and doing things right.

They aren't issued, the guys buy them on their own and use them. Last deployment some guys in the sniper teams were rocking the Razor HDs.

They buy them to look cool and because they are cheap, not because they actually used them.

I worked with "sniper teams" as well. they gave scopes away to all the team leaders.

Ah well that explains it more. A free one would be nice. You can get that discount if you are or were in. In case you didn't know

Yeah we buy them ourselves...or family buys for us. Vortex products are great. There is a 40% discount for active LE/MIL. They’re a really good company to work with. The price just pushes them past the competition.

Offer is also extended to Veterans. The wait time takes longer using the discount but worth the price for sure.

40% off MSRP, which is about 5-10% off every other store.

No, I do not.

Just throwing it out there for whatever it’s worth.

I’ve been eyeing a few of their products.
