Yep the had a smell all their own... Tar and cosmoline...

And they actually sold military surplus... :-)

Congrats the 1912 Chileans have so far escaped me. I almost settled for matching except the floor plate but I knew that would bother me later.

You might want to check the stock for cast-off if you're a right handed shooter. It would cause the recoil to roll right back into your cheek bone... I'm not sure if it can be corrected to cast-on, but it might be worth a try....??
