Never heard of Fosco.
Krylon is popular with the American military because it is easy to apply and remove as needed. Just beware it is not the most durable of paints.

Not really scared about durability, but concerning the finishing of materials if removed.

Krylon is the way to go then. Easy to remove with simple solvents that wont hurt anodizing.

Acetone will definitely remove Krylon.
even weaker solvents like denatured alcohol or some citrus based cleaners will remove Krylon, but not as fast as acetone.

Yup! I've used Krylon to paint most of my guns and it will come off with some acetone, a sponge, and some sweat. The best method for me is to just let the part soak in acetone for around 10 min and then start wiping it off.

Default Raffle win

I won this in a raffle put on by Sacramento Black Rifle back in 2010. Came with a lot of bells and whistles.

I bought the stock pieces as you see them. I did not finish them.

A little update....The rifle is back apart. The gas block chrome started to peel. But the main reason was to get the upper and lowers stripped to get a clear anodizing layer added. I am afraid that without it, the metal will be too soft and the trigger pins may give me trouble in the future. This was on the advice of two gunsmiths. I also painted (not real thrilled with how they turned out) some high scope rings with "chrome" paint. I mounted a silver colored cheap scope.

This project has been very fun. And I can honestly say that everyone who has seen it in person has said how much better it looked than it did in pictures. It should be fun seeing people's faces at a rifle range.

Coming along... picked up a SHTF brown stock and grip and the color goes pretty well. Just need barrel and handguard... anyone know how well the Geissele "sand" colored rails go with the CMT Desert Bronze?
