Default Rolled out new website last night

We upgraded our website last night, hopefully this time it will be more well received than the last attempt. This is an upgrade to our existing website, just moving to the newest version of the platform while maintaining most of the look and feel of our existing website. The search is improved, it has a responsive mobile design, and a bit more refinement, and will allow us to disable TLS 1.0 so we are PCI compliant again.

Couple known issues, the "Items per page" selection and the filters are a little wonky. The filters and sort are lost when you click to view an item and then click back to the list. The vendor is promising a fix to these two issues in the next couple weeks. Another issue is that the Dealer Map is broken. I am working on a fix for this so hopefully it will be back in the next few days.

Let me know if you see any other issues with it. You may need to clear your browser cache if you are seeing any weird issues getting it to load or to log in.

Thanks

Do you have anything specific to report, or do you just dislike change? I can't really fire myself, I mean I could just stay at home though since I'm the boss

Is this when viewing on phone? The choices between "Grid" or "List" are not supposed to be visible but looks like they re-appear when on mobile. I'll correct this. Thanks for the report.

UPDATE: This is corrected now

The filters seems to be a little off. I select the caliber .357 mag and it is showing .32ACP guns.

Also I get an error when I click on some of the items that show in stock.

Using FireFox.

Is this on a PC or mobile? I do see that one item (Beretta 3032) is mapped incorrectly so I will correct that one. Can you give me an example of a particular item that is throwing an error so I can look at it closer?

Thanks

PC. Beretta 81, S&W 638, Seecamp LWS-32, Seecamp LWS-380. Also when I change "Items per page" to "View all" it goes back to the default of 12 per page.

Thanks, I'll check on how these items caliber's are mapped. The issue with the items per page is the same as the one where the filters are reset when you drill down into an item. The vendor is promising a fix soon, but realistically probably won't be until early January.

I've got the Dealer Map working again though!

Ditto.
Very slow, seems to update, but click another filter and it refreshes with the wrong filter, filters properly upon re-selection. It just seems like it's badly lagging.
PC, Firefox

BTW I couldn't get the filter feature to work on my iPhone while I was in the store yesterday (before the power outage). I tried pressing more or the + sign but it just hid the menu.

On a PC the view all function for items per page doesn't work and defaults back to whichever number you had before (8, 12, 16, 24, or 32). This occurs regardless of the type of product you are looking at.

We should be getting a fix for the filters and #items per page issues next week. Unfortunately staying on the "old never broken" version was not an option, at least not if we want to be able to continue to accept credit card payments online. We will get the issues ironed out. I appreciate the constructive feedback.

Shark, the new site is a big improvement since its first release in the previous thread.
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1382409

Big banners no longer pop up and cover the screen as you scroll around. Thanks for incorporating some of our suggestions.

I found another product that isn't mapped correctly through the filters. The FN SPR rifle isn't found through the filters of: Rifles -> FN Herstal -> Bolt Action -> 308 Win

The old website would remember sorting preference - I tend to check your 'new products' page daily, and the old site would remember to display it "sort by recently added." Cookies?

happy new year! just fyi if your browsing thru your website lets say selections of cali compliant rifles. every time you click on a particular item(rifle) when you return to the selection of rifles it always starts from the beginning. so for you to see all the selection you have to go back again from the start and not to open or click on a item just for you to see all the compliant rifles. pls ignore this if that's how it should be.

Yeah if you read my OP in this thread I mention the filtering bug. The vendor that wrote that component currently has the fix in QA so we should have it on our site soon.

With more pistol caliber carbines coming out, it would be nice to filter the stripped lowers by caliber. I'm aware of the 9mm AR parts category, but I'm hoping for some 45 AR parts too. Maybe there could be a PCC parts category instead.

Is there an option to see the desktop version of the site when you're on mobile, even if it's by adding a query string?

Yeah, it's frustrating. The vendor sent us "the fix" about a week ago, but introduced new bugs where you can't clear the filters properly so we didn't roll it out on our live site yet. They are back at it, hopefully soon...

That's weird, my new cert covers both the main website and the blog. You don't see this on https://www.riflegear.com? Details show the cert is all good on my end. I wonder if is something specific to FireFox or is a caching issue or something. I will investigate today, thanks!

I get the same error using Firefox. Is it a wildcard cert you are using for both sites?

Ahhh, something with the rewrite rule or caching that FireFox doesn't like. I made some tweaks to the rewrite rule so this should be fixed now. Can some of you firefox guys try this link and let me know if the cert warning is gone? blog.riflegear.com

Works with www.blog.riflegear but not with blog.riflegear

Which is strange, when I mouseover your link, it shows as blog.riflegear but loads as www.blog.riflegear

Hmm....

That's a URL rewrite happening on the server. Pretty much any attempt to connect to riflegear.com, www.riflegear.com, blog.riflegear.com, etc... should rewrite to https://www.riflegear.com or https://www.blog.riflegear.com

But it's only happening when I follow the link, unless you mean it's a rewrite on the Calguns server.

If I directly type "blog.riflegear.com" it goes to "blog.riflegear.com" and I get the security warning.
