Turner's has the Tactical 10/22 for $249.98 in the weekly ad until the 15th. Their holiday ad has a stainless with a synthetic stock for 229.98 and a blue with either wood or synthetic for 219.98 until the 29th. http://www.turners.com/

I'm located in temecula..I saw the big5 ad and they had a ruger 10/22 tactical for 269.99 is that a good deal? Turners does have the same one for $20 cheaper but they're located 45 min or so away from me...do anyone know if the muzzle device is removable on the tactical version?

Print out the Turner's ad and see if Big 5 will price match. I don't know about the tactical's muzzle.

i made the mistake of buying the SS/ Composite 10/22 with my first one, the tactical is even more money.

once you get your 10/22, or soon after you get it, you will probably want to change some stuff up. since you want the tactical, it sounds like you arent the plane-jane kind of gun owner (like me).

id recommend saving some money and getting the base model (i think $229) at big5 on sale, then tinker with that one. new trigger components, stock, barrel, optics, sling.

have fun

^^This

I got mine on a trade and before I even got it out of jail, I had already ordered a new stock, barrel, some trigger components and a scope.

I haven't even shot the thing yet! But that is just me... I tend to enjoy the modifications just as much as I enjoy shooting but in this case I jumped the "gun" so to speak and modified before actually shooting...

In the end though I had an idea of how I wanted my 10/22, for me form is just as important as function.

So as mentioned I would wait for the base carbine to go on sale or check out the marketplace for one.

you could opt for a marlin 795 at turners for $110!! not much upgrade options but as accurate as the 10/22 and half the price.

I bought the tactical model last year and even though I modded it out having the shorter threaded barrel makes my 10/22 stand out that much more. It's a great rifle and even better with some work.

Is the tactical worth the extra $50 vs paying $200 for standard? What else comes with it?

Same question as gorenut^^ is it worth the extra money to get the tactical version with the muzzle device or should I just stick to getting a base model? I plan on swapping out the stock for the hogue stock and just throwing a scope and bi-pod.

i dont see why you would need a muzzle device on a .22

the internals are the same AFAIK, i honestly think the best way to go is to get the base model and upgrade off of that.

http://www.ruger.com/products/1022Tactical/models.html
doesnt say anything special about it, just shorter barrel, synthetic stock.

youll have the same trigger as anyone else, same bolt, same mag release...

if youre gonna get a hogue, scope, and bipod, why not get a bull barrel too?

ruger also offers another target model that comes with a bi-pod, bull barrel, and hogue stock, but its really pricey.

hogue stock- $70
shilen barrel- $180 (you can get a good bull barrel for $100 though)
harris bipod- $75
bsa sweet 22 6-18 scope- $140 +$40 or so for rings

and that has a power custom trigger kit for $115, but id say just go with the hammer for $35, does just as well and will save you money, thats what i did with my other 10/22.

older pic before i changed the receiver over to my new 10/22 and got new scope rings-

How so? Quality ARs are twice as much, most 1911s are more than that, sometimes much more, revolvers start at about that price, an anshutz .22 goes for about 2500... $800 on a gun isn't much, and with ammo being so cheap, it "pays for itself" quickly.

thats where i got mine, i went to ammo bro's in ontario and they were selling for 199.99 for the base model but they were out, so went to turners in the same city and they had theirs for 219.99, but i just ended up getting it at big 5 in murrieta for 229.99 because i live 10 min away and didnt want to DROS it at turners and drive like 30-45 min to pick it up when i can just go down the street and get it.
