Pistol Cover & Positions: (9/30/17 Los Angeles)

This course will teach students to immediately look for and take cover/concealment upon engagement with deadly threat to attain the tactical advantage you need to increase the chance of survivability. Furthermore, advanced shooting positions and manipulations of the handgun from various positions are drilled.



This firearms training course will be presented in two parts: part one will familiarize students on various pistol shooting positions. Students will be given concepts of changing levels, stabilizing the shooting platform and prone-ing. In part two, students will engage various static targets during a live-fire session while using cover incorporating various shooting positions. Student must be conditioned to engage threats from cover while continuously changing shooting positions and locations of exposure.

The student will be assessed in a live-fire portion of this class by participating in a combat cover course.

Ammo: Must bring own 350 rounds (minimum)

Subject Matter:
-Safety briefing
-Review principals of personal defense
-Mental conditioning and combat mindset
-Review of the On-Guard position
-Slow fire drills & Warm up
-Threat assessment and area scanning
-Shooting positions: standing, squatting, kneeling and prone
-Cover vs Concealment
-Methodology and use of cover
-Maintaining and stand off distance from cover
-Changing exposure locations and shooting positions while using cover
-Use of cover during problem solving (reloading and malfunction clearing)
-Combined skills evaluation
