Default Glockstore 80% G43 Coming Soon!

Article on The Firearm Blog: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2...me-glockstore/

Pre-order at the Glockstore: http://www.glockstore.com/SS80-M-Model

We are not affiliated with this (nor is Polymer80) but it is certainly an interesting product offering for those of us behind enemy lines and bound by the roster.

Our Easy Bolt kit should work with this build, but it won't be as clean of a fit due to the compact size of the G43. Nonetheless, we're looking forward to building one up! Hats off to Glockstore for tackling this.

I admit I know almost nothing about 80% guns so I will ask a couple of simple questions. First is this something that can be built and used in Ca. Second approximately how much would it cost to build one completely buying all the other parts. I now there are probably many variables but just a good ball park total cost.
Trying to see it this might be an effective alternate to paying a CA ransom for an off roster g43.

Ha! Good luck finding a slide under 600 bucks with the way people price the off roster stuff.

Complete factory Glock 43 upper $400
80% lower $130
Internal parts kit $90
Already up to $620
Might as well just pay for a complete G43.

Slides are legal to purchase directly from anyone in any state.

What we did just notice is that there doesn't seem to be a metal plate for a serial number! That seems like a big mistake if they want folks in CA to build these legally. I'm going to reach out to Glockstore and get some clarification.

Got a response... WHEW!

Quote:
The shipping versions of the SS80 will have the serial number plate embedded into the frame, at the same spot the Glock 43 has it.

Yep, very cool of them.

I suspect aftermarket slides won’t be far behind.

Righttobear.com has a great deal on 80% frame and reduced cost slide for the rest of the glock line right now. I’m sure the 43 won’t be far behind.

What about the little ghost gun thing about 3.5 oz of stainless steel embedded I to the frame. I mean I know the slide will set off a metal detector and it's pretty useless without a slide but california law makers are worried about someone keestering one of these an sneaking it into a gun free zone. They are fairly small and I'm sure someone could fit......but that's nasty and noone would do that.

G43's are going for $900 on the CG Marketplace, this isn't a bad alternative. I agree with the other post, I'm not sure you would want to or could list it as a CCW.

now, to find a barrel...

in all honesty, though, 80% firearms to me are really just range toys and fun projects- nothing more. to use one in self defense in california is asking for trouble.

What about the legality of having an unregistered firearm concealed on your person... Or even used in a self defense scenario. I love the idea and options are amazing but I've stayed away from the p80v2 full sized because of this and the g43 sized scares me even more.

I almost ordered from there until I saw a slide/LPK combo on gunbroker for $419 sans sales tax! To get the equivalent from Glockstore would be in the mid 500s

There is a form on doj website. You fill it out explain how you got the gun. (Made it from scratch, just like mom used too). Send the form with a check for $19. A few weeks later the doj will send you a letter saying you own the gun you already own. Then you can add it to your ccw list.

And hopefully once national reciprocity clears the senate, you'll be good to go with a non-resident utah permit. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they require the ccw to have a weapon associated with it either.

There is no requirement in law that a CCW be registered unless it is an NFA item or an Assault Weapon, although your IA may impose such a condition on your permit.

There is no requirement in law that a personal defense weapon be registered unless it is a NFA item or an Assault Weapon.

What is your concern about the legality?

That's cool, but it's not enough to comply with new Penal Code section 29180(b)(2)(B). The embedded plate must be at least 3.7 ounces of 17-4 PH Stainless Steel.

I don't see how they can meet the weight requirement if they place it in the same place as the G43.

So for an NFA item, does that mean registered with ATF or with CADOJ? I'm guessing ATF.

That's the plan I have for registering my 80% Glocks (build roster/AW exempt single shot bolt action, apply to ATF for AOW status w/ foregrip, ATF registered and satisfies AB857)

Yeah, it looks like pretty much every 80% polymer pistol will be obsolete come July. As long as it's built before then we're good to go correct? I could see this becoming an issue down the road for any new 80% offerings, since it will be obvious you couldnt have built it before July 1, 2018

The National Firearms Registry (for the NFA stuff) is managed by BATF.

I've been following your other thread where it looks like you were seeking a method of using the National Registry as an alternative to California state registration. I'm not knowlegable enough in that area of law to really know if the idea will work. I've never done any work with NFA items.

i'm just wondering if polymer 80 folks can just make 80% versions of all these striker fired off-roster pistols so we don't have to pay the exorbitant CA markup for off-rosters?

i mean anything that has a polymer frame they should be able to make so that would be a lot of the currently new striker fired pistols out there.

AB 857 pretty much killed any opportunity to do so.

I'll go ahead an answer my own question on this. If it turns out the AOW path works out, that will be the way to keep building from 80% in California without needing DOJ serials or the 3.7oz stainless. NFA items are exempt from that entire section of AB857 (including the July 1st deadlines)

Here's a couple photos of the Easy Bolt attached to a Glock 43 slide. Since the slide is so skinny, the set screws need to be screwed in deeper for it to be secure. Other than that, it works perfectly fine! There is still access to the breech to load .25acp between shots.

What? The SS80? Yeah it's in pre-sale for a March ship date. http://www.glockstore.com/SS80-M-Model

Update on the AOW path:
I'm trying to get a straight answer from the sheriff's office and it's turning out to be quite a pain. I don't think they enter ATF Form 1's into AFS (thus registering them in California) but I don't want to spend $200 to register with ATF just to find out I ended up getting put into a California database.
