Your hand checkering is fantastic! I'm thinking about having checkering done on my 92FS Compact, but can't decide whether I want to send it to Wilson Combat or Allegheny Gun Works. It's definitely not something I could do myself, I would probably screw it up.

Thank you. I believe the serrations on Berettas are cut at 15-16 LPI, so it is hard to match with available files. Gotta send it out for a professional result.
I have seen threads where WC did some less than impressive checkering on someone's beretta 92. I am sure it was a one time screw up, but still. AGW would be my choice.

Seriously, Mosin- I always appreciate your quality of work. Thanks to you and a few others I have done a project or two like this, that I otherwise wouldn't have done. But when I get done, it looks more like a Beaver was hired as a sub-contractor lol.

I just like to share my attempts. I am sure everyone can do it if they are patient and careful.

Since the frame was away and I was still unhappy with the plastic Vertec Grips, I decided to modify the Wilson Combat 92 FS G10 grips I had on my Beretta.

Original

Marked parallel to the frame shoulder line

Cut off and filed straight

Beveled the rear to blend into the shape

Filed new border with a diamond round needle file seen in the picture.

Recut checkering in affected areas using the same curved needle file.

Lightly oiled and wiped nearly dry

MV, every time I see you do stuff I just go out and buy more tools to play with... Those should look nice on the Beretta!

I secretly work for many tool companies as a promoter. LOL I wish.
I think they will look better than the plastic Vertecs, and they will certainly look different from everyone else's.

Damn i need this bad. I dont shoot my M9 because of the way the grip feels.

Is there any gunsmiths who are reputable that do this?

Allegheny Gun Works for sure. And they are actually refinishing (re-anodizing) my frame for me.

You have a rare talent and are an artist. Not many people could pull that off. Very impressive indeed.

Josh at AGW is a master.
Frame looks excellent. Thank you again, Josh.

As you can see, the beavertail shape doesn't look bad.

That turned out fantastic. I concur that BOBGBA, its a talent on everyone has. And patience is a talent all its own.

After seeing your mod video. It made me go pull my Vertec out and shoot it. I really really wanted to like it as I love 1911's feel. But I ended up liking the standard grip more. Probably something about having it for over 25 years.

I had two, so I pulled out NIB and sold it recently. Glad you loved it and gave you what you were looking for in a Beretta.

Thank you very much. I recently converted it to D with a D slide. So now I can work on long pulling the trigger without moving the gun. I don't know why but revolvers always feel different to me. Could be the grip/hold.

In any case, I am pretty happy with the result and yes the shape feels better to me.
