Default Question for my brothers and sisters in Texas...

So it looks like Texas allows open carry for anyone with a CCW. Also, they honor the Utah CCW. So does this mean if I go to Texas, I can open carry and CCW with my Utah CCW?
Also, what’s the process for getting a Tx CCW? Or do I even need to bother, can I just keep renewing my Utah CCW?
I’m planning on moving there this year.
Thanks in advance

I'm sure someone will chime in with more info, but Texas does honor most out of state CCW permits. Biggest challenge in Texas is property rights trump CCW and open carry, so if a business posts a proper sign then CCW and Open carry are not allowed. Be prepared to disarm and lock up your firearm in a proper container often.

AFAIK...
TX resident needs a valid TX CCW permit in order to legally carry in TX.
So, once you become a TX resident, you will need to obtain a TX CCW permit in order to carry in TX.

This. I just don't go to places that I can't carry.

I'd just get the Tx CHL once you become a resident.

One thing I've noticed though is a lot of businesses don't post the proper 30.06 and 30.07 signs, which means feel free to carry!

Shhhh. True but don't tell the businesses that.

If you're concealed carrying there shouldn't ever be a reason for someone to give you any crap. And I'm not positive but even with the 30.06 signs, it's pretty much enforced by them asking you to leave. Start running into trouble if you still refuse to leave. I do notice more businesses have the 30.07 signs banning open carry. But I honestly haven't ran into many 30.06 signs.

While open carry is allowed, it is not that popular. I have seen 4 people doing it in the 21 months that I have lived here. In my job I engage with a lot of people, and most of them are gun people. It is virtually unanimous that concealed is the way to go.

I concur. I've lived here a couple years and can probably count on one hand the times I've seen people open carry here. Most people who carry here do so concealed, and more people carry than you might think.

Honestly the only place I think I've seen anyone open carry here has been at Walmarts haha
