Default Glock 21 and 230JHP+p

How does a G21 do with a steady diest of 230+P ammunition?

How is the grip on Gen4 G21 compared to GEN3 ? GEN3 SF?

It's fine if it says Sig or Smith & Wesson M&P on the side.

We are running G21s with Winchester Ranger +P 230s no problems.

Have not had a chance to run G21SF yet.

Actually... a few G21's experienced feeding failures when running the +P and it's actually a documented occurrence that the range staff switched to the non +P Rangers for the 45 cal.

We ran the 127+P+ 9mm in the G17 forever without any problems, only the G21 had problems with the +P.

^^^^ This ^^^^ The dept had to quit issuing the Ranger .45acp+p for the G21's because of numerous (and very different) failures caused by the higher pressure ammo in the G21's . Those of us who carried guns that could handle the +p ammo (Sig/HK/etc) begged them to let us keep carrying it but they refused due to the logistics of purchasing different ammo in the same caliber.....read: it cost to much. Many of us even offered to buy it ourselves and they still refused.

I remember running Hogan's Alley and experiencing multiple FTF and FTE while using the 45+P but no problems in the 9mm+P+.

Funny how all of the malfunctions at the range didn't mean anything until it was a real life scenario that ended up bring about the closer examination and ammo change. Thankfully, the deputy(s) involved were not hurt. I will say the Glock 21 has seen no malfunctions on the standard velocity Ranger ammo.

The range staff gave me some new mags and said try that... Didn't work. I eventually gave up and went to 9mm. Figured it was better to be able to put 9mm down range consistently than always having to second guess if I am going to have a jam. That lack of confidence is a bad feeling to have in your duty sidearm.

And that is exactly why I went from the issued Ranger .45acp to the Ranger 9mm +p+. I lost all confidence when they took away the .45acp+p and started issuing std velocity .45acp.

I know this reply will be subject to some hits from the peanut gallery but our issued 9mm +p+ out performs the std velocity .45acp by a wide margin. And that is straight from first hand experience as well as the guys that investigate OISs. Regardless of caliber, I want ballistic performance and that outweighs any sentimental feeling I have toward toward the .45acp.

Yep, the 127 grain +P+ 9mm puts out some impressive figures when compared to either 230 grain standard or +P 45 loads.

Another bonus is I get 4 more rounds per mag with the 9mm. 6 more rounds if I use the +2 floorplates.

Yzernie...can you explain a little more about what you saw that made you believe the 9 performed better? We are issued .40 and will soon be able to pick 9 or .45.

No agenda here...want to use a caliber that I can shoot accurately and do the most damage with. Thanks.
