Default Uberti 1858 Remington on sale for $189

I know some of you don’t have access or want access to Facebook but the Tanner Sport Center located in Pennsylvania is having a sale on Uberti 1858 Remington’s. The price for me was $189 plus $25 for shipping and a $5.67 charge for using credit not cash. So the final out the door price is $219.67. The lowest price I could find anywhere else is $339. I own a Pietta 1858 that I bought on sale at Cabela’s for $199. Ubertis have always had a premium. Some argue that the Uberti is better made. I did find this on the Firingline Forum:

Uberti comes with a dovetailed front sight, Pietta does not.
Uberti comes with a crowned barrel, Pietta does not.
Uberti does a better finish job on the face of the bullet ram.
Uberti does a better finish job polishing the inside of the trigger guard.
Uberti blues the internal components and trigger.
Uberti has double crossed lines of engraving on the hammer spur; Pietta has single.

You can’t order online. I would give them a call tomorrow morning when they open as they had 92 instock about a day ago. I ordered mine this morning. They took my name off an email I sent and I called with the credit card information around noon.

Good luck!

I've been wanting one of these in 5.5" blued or stainless. I'd like the carbine version too.

Unfortunately, these are the 8 inch blued barrel versions.

Uberti made the Colt Signature Series guns for Colt back in the 1990's.

The Walker dragoon was for many decades the most powerful repeating pistol that had been made in numbers rather than custom made. Until the .357 magnum from S&W. The Uberti Walkers are $390 now at Dixie Gun Works. 58 grains black powder, .454".

I bought mine used defarbbed (modern lettering removed) for less than a new one would cost in the muzzleloadingforum.com classifieds.

Those Uberti genuine Colts had no modern lettering, The words were all as original. They were gen 2 and made in I believe the 1970s for a couple years or so. The Uberti signature series was also, they came around 10 years later I think.

Just ordered one on a whim for $214.67 off gunbroker. I'm a complete newbie to BP. Anyone want to provide a link to ammo they'd recommend I start with? Thanks!

Pyrodex Pistol, Hornady 0.451" lead balls, percussion caps, and .44 caliber Wonder Wads.

I can't remember whether #10 or #11 caps should be used with pistols. One type is a little stronger/tighter so it won't come off after firing and jam the cylinder. You don't have to worry about it if you have a single shot rifle/pistol. I doubt there is a difference since pistol caps will also work on a rifle. Seems like it would be easier to just make pistol caps and mark them either #10 or #11.
