Thats a nice range..

Fairfield PD's New range is SICK!

We got to use it in the academy and we were spoiled rotten. AC and Heat, pneumatic remote controlled targets. Fully stocked armory and cleaning area/ ready rooms.

I like exile grips because they make ar15s look like they're leaping in the air after something with it's rear feet pointed back. Weeeee.

Ok that's it, no more late night posting.

Default Important Point for Newbs!!!!

Zum,

The video is great, and a nice alternative to drilling a hole in the stock to run a roll pin through the tube and stock itself. I may add this mod as a second layer of protection to my already drilled and roll pinned ACS.

With that out of the way, there are a couple of things I'd like to point out to CAL AR newbs with regard to featureless builds. First and foremost is that an AW in CA is a centerfire rifle with a pistol grip and the ability to accept detachable magazines; or a detachable magazine configuration with evil features (that's the laymen's description so don't go comparing to PC). This is important because a lower receiver separated from the upper receiver does not constitute a rifle. For that reason I'd advise separating your upper and lower receiver whenever making configuration changes to your rifle. In the video the magazine was fixed with a radd lock, but by separating the upper and lower, you add another degree of safety.

This brings up the second important point. When building a featureless rifle, even though no one is around, an illegal configuration is an illegal configuration!!! If a DA wanted to, and could prove that your order of operations created an instance where the rifle temporarily met the criteria for being classified as an AW, you'll have some "splainin" to do. It's best to always consider your actions to be witnessed by the eyes of the law, and use appropriate forethought when configuring your rifle. Remember, we always act within the letter of the law.

Last but not least, if people aren't 100% sure that their current "featureless" configuration is truly featureless, don't take a picture of the assembled upper and lower receivers and post em on the internet. There is absolutely no shame in asking, but don't assemble a configuration until you're 100% sure it's truly featureless and confident enough with the configuration to be able to articulate your stance to LEOs. If you need to take pictures to convey you question, that's perfectly fine, just don't assemble a possible AW to find out whether or not you have one

I don't want to derail this thread, but I've seen a few "oops" moments here and there with regard to both fixed magazine and featureless builds. I'd hate for someone to get reamed by a DA and potentially lose their 2A rights because they configured their rifle in an order of operations that temporarily created an AW.

Now to get this thread back on track, I'll have to take some pics of my current featureless setup tomorrow and post em up

Chris

Yes, it is good not to accidentally build an "assault weapon", since California makes it so easy for anyone to be a felon when it comes to firearms. Gotta keep spending more money on those prisons than we do on schools, ya know.

A picture is just a picture though. Even though the 2nd amendment isn't recognized in California, the 5th is. The pictures could have been taken in Arizona, Pluto, or taken from someone else So I wouldn't feel too paranoid if anyone here posted a picture of a weapon that everyone else in the rest of the country aren't felons for possessing. This is a featureless photo thread though, so....

Unfortunately I'm still waiting on parts for mine!

What is a good muzzle brake to use for a featureless build? And also,, do fake cans count as an "evil feature" ?

Maybe you guys with more knowledge can clarify for me

Thanks

Justin

Just make sure not to get any muzzle break that is specifically advertised as a flash suppressor.

I use a Primary Weapons System TTO on my featureless rifle. It makes a large enough difference for me on follow up shots that I went that route again for my second carbine.

It also is well on the safe side of not being classified as a flash suppressor. It doesn't have any tines in the front so it shouldn't attract attention.

I did notice a significant rise in muzzle blast and loudness. Nothing you can't get used to but if someone was shooting close enough they might be annoyed or enjoy it

My featureless build used a Bushmaster upper and the Solar tactical grip. Works great and he can build it to be offset slightly so you can put your thumb in a more comfortable position. I don't have any pictures right now but it's pretty normal looking minus the grip.

I am the one to go on the CTR, I am the one that asked zum to take his ACS apart while we were assembling his lower at my house. I will PM you the details, I will be making a thread on how to do it as well.

Yes, I had to remove the pin before I sent it out to you. Took all of 2 seconds to do so

In this pic it looks like about a 30" barrel. Kind of reminds me of those old anti-tank rifles lol. Nice progress.

It would be funny to see kydex fashioned around the whole rifle (along with behind the pistol grip), sticking out of the handguards and around the forward grip and bayo lug thus making it "safe" and legal in California.

I thought the featureless AR's were goofy/ugly at first , then after a while they sure got prettier after farting around with bullet buttons and 10 round neutered magazines .

So I threw one together , they become a hell of a lot prettier when you can shoot 30 then drop the empty mag with your finger .

This thread needs an update.

Finally finished converting my rifle to "featureless."

I will never do another bullet button rifle again. Featureless is great.

Yes, the ACS is pinned (hidden under the cheek weld locations). I am using an SJC Titan brake, along with the Solar Tactical kydex grip wrap.
