lasers were talked about briefly. they are allowed on your weapon. It was the opinion of the instructor that they were not the best of ideas for concealed carry. reasons that we were given is one, becoming dependent on something that could fail. two, focusing too much on the laser point, and three in low light situations, the bad guy can follow the laser back to you if there is dust or smoke in the air.

Well now for the waiting. Interviewed on 3/21 and had range today, 6/15/13. Class was good, but packed. Overall good experience.

I agree, overall good experience. The class part was better than I expected. It was a relaxed atmosphere, very informative, serious at times, and hilarious at other times. The range part went perfect and was fun and easy. Got to meet some good people along with a few from this thread. Now we wait.

Very good class. Was kinda shocked about how strongly they advise NOT to carry revolvers.

Excellent class. Learned quite a bit. Still have lots of PC's to look up and read over. 3 weeks and we should be done with permit in hand.

What did you guys use for a good cause statement?

I put the actual reason in a paragraph or two which is personal protection. I don't think that you want to lie on this as it will be brought to life by the prosecution team if you are ever involved in a self defense case.

Only GC required is that you want to protect yourself. They do now ask that you write a paragraph or two and flesh this out a bit.

This is a good idea as your app is discoverable in the event of a shoot.

Thats pretty much what I did. I used personal protection in the very first line and then wrote about a page on specific instances as to why I have a need for personal protection (i.e. activities I do, etc). She read it, underlined some stuff, didny say anything and just sent me on to the livescan. This makes me thing that my GC was at least "good enough".

There really is no threshold for "good enough". We are not asked to show that we are at greater risk than anyone else.

They went over this again in my renewal class.

I guess what I meant was that mine didnt need any "on the spot" tweaking as others have reported or at least was enough to not make the Detective question it or anything of the sort.

Once again, this is not rocket science. There is no good cause threshold for our county.

They just want a semi-articulate paragraph or two. Since she had no questions, it sounds as if you did just that.

When they question someone it's probably because they couldn't understand their poor grammar or sentence structure.

Don't make this harder than it is. No one gets denied for insufficient good cause.

This is not Orange County.

I have my interview a week from today. I'm pretty sure I have all the paperwork in order. I just need to check and double check.

Not to hijack the thread, but Trapper is that a Dobie in your pic? I have one also, but he has floppy ears. Great dogs.
