Just picked up a Remington 870 with a 28 inch barrel, black synthetic stock. Haven't done anything to it yet.

Looks like you did ATI: Tactical Forend, Top Folding Stock, Heatshield, Shotshell Holder.. pretty much what I had planned to do. glad I saw your build first, helps me visualize.

Updated the 870's recently. Had the chance to shoot a couple of different pistol grip stocks and liked the basic SpeedFeed best. I had a hard time getting a good fit with some of the adjustable types. Put the IV-S stock on both guns.

Both are older Wingmasters. The one of the left is an old PD gun refinished. Lengthened forcing cone, tritium front bead, Surefire rail forearm with LaRue LED light. The one on the right is a 1950/1951 Wingmaster with a 1960's 20" rifle sighted barrel. Hogue forearm. Lengthened forcing cone there too. Both have Wilsons +1 extensions.

How come all the double-barrel shotguns I see cost way more than pump-actions? I could understand if they were antiques but even the new cheap chinese ones cost more than Mossbergs.

Heres my mossberg 590A1 with a heavy barel and hogue stock and forend. Heads up, if you get the heavy barrel and force the heatshield on, it won't come off

I think it is a stand off device. Keeps your muzzle off the target while you blow it to smithereens and not blow up your barrel. Or its used as an aggressive end to jab into an intruder. Or its just for looks.
