Default S&W model 41 avaibility ?

For the last six months, I could not find any S&W Model 41 in Los Angeles&Orange County LGS. I tried GunGenie still could not locate one . In some posts in the forums people mention very hard to find a new S&W 41 because the demand much exceed the supply.

I just check the Gunbroker and see couple S&W 41 NIB with the price below MSRP.
I wonder are those will be gone fast and we have to wait for another lot ? or we always have some NIB on GB ?

They’re out of stock at Davidson’s but you can sign up to be notified when they have them in stock.

The Model 41 is roster exempt so Just buy it anywhere you can find it in stock with the best price. And make sure your FFL will accept the transfer.

As noted above, keep looking on line. They are available. I purchased mine from Cabelas. No issue with having my local FFL accept it.

To further elaborate, the reason I mention the FFL thing is because the roster lists the pistol as M-41 while S&W lists it as Model 41... Some FFLs will consider this to mean that the pistol isn't listed on roster as exempt and thus, refuse to DROS it...

Nonsense.

The Model 41 as been in production over 60 years and every LGS/FFL knows what a S&W Model 41 is and what M-41 means (which is Model 41).

You will have NO problem getting any FFL to accept delivery of one unless they just don't need/want to earn the transfer fee for what little work they have to do for it.

Just because it hasn't happened to you or you've never heard about it doesn't mean it's nonsense.... Maybe the FFLs in your area are ok with it (which is the correct way to proceed).... But there's at least 1 FFL near me that refused to DROS it. They were warned by their DOJ auditor that the model needed to match 100% and thus will not accept them. I found a different FFL obviously, but just saying.

All,
It was told to me by my local FFL that the Model 41 is California legal(regardless of CA roster) because it is listed on a Olympic guns List which superceeds the CA roster.

THOUGHTS ??

Tom
