On Nextdoor, some called out racist white liberals for attacking Elder, but guess what, majority casually shrugged it off saying it is not racist since Elder is a Trump Republican.

I may be full of S##t, but Elder is going to wax Newsom's skis. Again, some people really think a bomb thrower like Elder will get elected in super blue CA, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. If you don't have enough money, some great ocean view property in AZ. This is like trying to do a 180 turn w/ a big rig in an alley. Ain't gonna happen. Falconer, or some of the other candidates should have had a chance, but since Larry has a radio show, he took all the oxygen. Now he's crying on t.v. that this election will be stolen. He's right, he stole it from a near tie in July to what seems to be a blowout now. A lot of work to get out Newsom, and now he will more than likely be in a stronger position tomorrow. This shouldn't have happened.

At around 9am this morning, New York Magazine reported that the Larry Elder Campaign conceded defeat.

Where have we seen such tricks before?

Newsome may win and he may even win without the aid of cheating.

But he won’t win because Larry Elder would have been governor, he’ll win because Californians are spineless, boot licking, cowards who would happily keep a man who has ruined their businesses and society while preserving his own privileges. Running a rino like Faulconer wouldn’t have changed that and frankly I don’t see the benefit of replacing one Democrat with another (he ran for mayor of SD claiming out East he’d be called a democrat).

Tomorrow California will have the governor it chooses and apparently deserves.

The inimitable hoffmanng once had a good quote on this forum: When you first meet a hot babe in the bar, the first question should not be "are you into anal sex". Let me tell you the same story as a slightly more politically correct joke:

A young bull and and old bull are standing at the top of a hill, looking over the fields, and they see a whole lot of good looking cows. The young bull says "let's run down there like hell, mooing loudly, and jump one of them". The old bull says "no, let's walk down there slowly and quietly, and jump them all".

The strategy of running a Trump proxy like Elder is dead on arrival in California. Hopeless, pointless, waste of time. The only reason a rational person would seriously entertain that is that they are wanting to lose, and that's the position of the California Republican Party: In exchange for a few dozen legislative seats in inland districts, they don't run any candidates that could upset the ruling democrats, and get enough funding to keep a core party operation going.

If you use the strategy of running a hard-core Trump proxy like Elder, then your logical next step has to be to claim election fraud, because that's what keeps your base angry, meaning energized. And an energized base will keep donating enough. Larry Elder just gold-plated his loss. Good for him. Unfortunately for the rest of California, he will never be governor.

Quote:
If newsome wins it won’t be elder’s fault but the fault of the same braindead Californian voters that elected him in the first place. The same jackoffs who voted on a proposition to keep higher gas taxes.
Given that Californians want higher gas taxes, that they want more government and more rules, that they want higher minimum wage, that they now overwhelmingly believe in gender equality, a woman's right to choose, immigrant rights ... running someone like Elder who disagrees with the majority on nearly everything is insane. A viable strategy would be to run a centrist candidate, someone who doesn't mind abortions, is in favor of gay marriage, but is willing to dial back CARB from the current 11 (ever talked to someone who owns diesel trucks) to a reasonable value, who is serious about housing even if it upsets rich landowners, who supports charter schools even if the CTA doesn't like them, who is willing to criticize PG&E, pushes tougher criminal sanctions while simultaneously lowering jail population by legalizing pot, and so on.

But such a candidate can not exist, because the hard-core believers in the Republican Party (which is the overwhelming majority of the people in this forum) don't want anyone like that. If someone like that would run as a republican, they would not survive the first few days of the primary campaign, even if they had a good chance to win against democratic candidates who do their level best to self-destruct, like Newsom has done. In California, the democrats no longer have a "loyal opposition", they have a few elected republican scammers who are in it for the jobs and the money, and an angry but irrelevant republican electorate.

But I'm sure ja308 will be here in a moment, explaining to us how Elder will turn it all around, between 4:30 and 8:00 on Election Day, and how everything will be great. And how Elder will lose only because corrupt democrats will steal the election. It's that kind of intellectual dishonesty and denial of reality which dooms partisan politics in this state.

Not a trick, but reality.

On Monday, September 13th (the day before the election), Elder's campaign turned on a web site that was clearly intended to go live after the election, and which stated that Newsom had already won the election, and that Elder's campaign has used 3rd world statistical tools on the election results to detect fraud, including Benford's law.

Sometime on the morning of Election Day, both Twitter and the national press picked that up, and got screenshots of Elder's web site. So in this sense it is true that the day before the election, Elder sort of conceded, and already sort of claimed that the cause is election frauds and already sort of knew exactly how and where the fraud happened.

In the meantime, Elder's campaign has taken that part of the web site offline again, and replaced it with what they really wanted to show: A petition people can sign. So in another sense, Elder's campaign didn't intend to concede, and the whole thing is just operator error.

On the other hand, it's sort of amazing that Elder already knows before the election which statistical test will have what result. That puts his claims of having detected fraud in an interesting light. That's the kind of snafu that puts any future lawsuit into great jeopardy.

If you google "Ca recall election results".

You get dozens of media website hits. All claiming "LIVE RESULTS".

BWTF ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, NOT ONE OF WHICH HAS ANY LIVE COUNT TALLYS.

WTF ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Polls have been open for over 9 hrs. Counting mail ins started at 8 am.

YET NOT ONE DAMN "LIVE RESULTS".

WTF ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, why does Commyfornia not have voters SIGNATURES ON BALLOTS. INSTEAD, they have us sign an ENVELOPE. WHICH IS IMMEDIATELY THROWN AWAY AFTER OPENING.

MAKING SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION DURING A RECOUNT IMPOSSIBLE!

I IN ALL GOOD CONSCIENCE CANNOT BELIEVE THE RESULTS OF ANY SUCH ELECTION.

Sorry, reality check: By state law, registrars can not release any results until polls are closed. They can actually count ballots long before election day and election night, but they are not allowed to add the numbers, nor to release them. So expect a flood of initial results to come out shortly after 8pm, when the already pre-counted early ballots are added and released.

The precinct ballots can also be counted in multiple installments; it's not unusual in larger precincts for elections officials to process/replace the ballot boxes every few hours, and start running them through the counting machines. Again, those results will not be added or released until after 8pm. On the other hand, in small rural areas, this doesn't need to happen (since in rural precincts, often not even a single box is filled). So as the evening progresses, the results will shift from over representing early mail-order ballots, to over-representing urban, to over-representing rural areas. Also, not all ballots are machine counted; in very small elections or very small precincts, ballots are often human counted: If it takes 4 minutes to go over a dozen ballots, and 6 minutes to program the machine to count them, guess which one they're going to do?

And then don't forget: Ballots are allowed to come in later, as long as they were postmarked on Election Day. So expect the results to keep changing for about a week or so.

While the envelopes with signatures do get removed from the ballots, they don't just vanish. They can get rechecked during a recount. All the counting and signature verification can get observed by volunteers, and registrars are always looking for volunteers to help and to observe. If some candidate was really worried about voter fraud, they should just get volunteers to observe. Simply getting upset about the process without understanding it really invalidates any claims of fraud.

Good lord but you like to hear yourself talk.

You make a big mistake when you assume that we disagree because we don’t understand your argument. I’m just not convinced that pushing “liberal” republicans in California (or anywhere) is a strategy that has borne any fruit. Arnold was arguably a worse governor than Brown by conservative standards. Faulconer was mayor of SD and was an empty suit. Better than Bob Filner whom he replaced? Perhaps but I can’t offhand think of one good thing he did for the city.

And to speak only for myself, while I certainly like Elder, I didn’t choose to support him solely for his politics. He was the front runner from the very beginning. Faulconer and Cox never had a chance to begin with, regardless of their politics.

But I have no illusions about Californian politics. Californians like to be taxed and governed hard (you’re anal sex metaphor works pretty well in that regard ). But I suppose if God had not intended for us to be shorn, He would not have made us sheep.

No matter what anyone may believe, even if sound, it would be nice if some people would just shut their trap leading up to and through the day of such elections, and prior to election results, rather than trying to look so super-duper pooper scooper smart as a soothsayer, and simply let the chips fall where they may.

You put that out there, even what most of us know deep down, it's not only unneccessary, it breeds a negative/pessimistic outlook, maybe even contempt, and can convince others who would have voted favorably otherwise, to simply concede to your predictions and not vote at all - thinking it's a lost cause.

Nothing being said in this thread is some grand revelation, wise, or reverant. We are and have been way ahead of you, but find no need to blather on about it.

Yeah because running a centrist paid off SO well in the past with Arnie. This state deserves to go to hell in a handbasket.

Well said. I just found dog turd from my wife’s new puppy on my office rug. Picking it up while smelling it’s fresh, warm aroma was more uplifting than many posts here that are conjecture at this point. Let’s see where it goes. Let’s see where this goes. I got hope, not a lot, but enough. Keeping an eye on my vote status.

I think even the republicans in CA would probably be considered moderate Democrats in other states. It’s just CA is so far left, they seem like conservatives.

I think true conservatives in this state are a very tiny percent.

I think most people, registered Democrats and Republicans in CA believe Newsom did an okay job. That speaks volumes.

I've worked on nearly two dozen elections in LA County, and the count that mattered was not the machine count, but the hand-count. The machine was more of an aid to the poll workers. We still had to count everything by hand and those were the numbers that went on everything official, at least for total ballot counts. If anything was off, it was almost always the result of mistakes made by the poll workers while I was on my lunch break (such as letting voters put their ballots in another precinct's box; serials are unfortunately only on the receipt, and not the ballot itself, preventing rectification); it's amazing how much things can break down without supervision just for an hour. Counting the actual votes was done at the Registrar's office. However, a lot was changed from 2018 onwards and they severely cut back on the use of volunteers such as myself.

Last numbers I saw were like 25%... but of that 25, about half of that is libertarian/fiscal conservatives only that do not care about the 1st and 2nd...and that probably voted for the psycho ken doll only for his looks and covid money in this specific situation..

Well, I agree with a few things... CA is a communist boat that will sail until it hits rocks which is NOT in any form of legal and democratic principles and methods... meaning that NOBODY is going to stop this machine... CA is the most locked down political machine in the entire world... the recall is not/did not change that

Even if Elder somehow/someway win, he would not get ANYTHING done that really and truly MATTERS

He would be blocked/subverted/ruined/lied about etc etc etc into oblivion..

3rd.... now watch for Ken Doll the Commie to take this MOMENTUM and run with it... hes on fire now and in the clear to go hog wild...

This may have actually hurt CA in the long run rather than help it (for what it really matters LOL)

I see his point and there is some truth to it.. but not as whole as he points out...

I also think that people are overthinking this... it's pretty easy... Elder is an R and that does not go well for 75% plus of the residence here of all races, cultures and creeds...... and even more so---> Elder is Black and that does not go for 90% of the Hispanics to boot...

Forget about CA .... to be very honest, we just need to realize that we need to move out of this state... and I am not saying that just because of the election results...

Everybody here needs to start planning to move out of CA... even if it takes a year.. 3 years.. 5 years... at least start planning...

Give it up with the fake election NONSENSE. NO ONE is faking the election. And, if they did, NO ONE would fake an election to win 2 to 1! Only Putin wins by those kind of numbers.

ALL of you really need to stop it with the populist nonsense. Republicans are outnumbered in CA 2 to 1 by Dems not even counting independants who generally lean left anyway.

Republicans will NEVER again run CA. The demographics just aren't there. So.... stop wasting the money. (300 MILLION) for this recall waste of time.

Just like trying to stop the mag ban (we lost by 63+% on that one as well (see the pattern)

We need to change our tactics and change how we work to support the shooting sports. Trying to "bully" our way in with recalls, ballot measures or other "hail mary" tactics WILL NOT work.

So Russia elections aren't fake then?

Nope. What happens in CA just spreads to the other states.

I'm on a 6 year plan at the moment. That's the earliest I can retire from work. Or unless something with my last living parent happens I'll be gone sooner.

Independents are people who don't have the balls to claim a side. They are wimps. To me they are all Democrats (Communists) in California.

Newsom is going to royally F us all with whatever he wants to do.

Or Independents are smart enough to know D and R are simply different sides of the same coin.

I'm glad I left CA for a free state. Wasn't easy...but I reap all the rewards now.

I have to agree with your assessments. I worked on Veto Gunmageddon and that went nowhere. Unfortunately, for CA 2A supporters, there is only one tactic that works. Move to a free State and leave the libtards to drown in their own excrement.

It took me 3 years of dreaming and exactly three months to fulfill the dreams.
I could be done.
Now many people will have motivation.

I have to disagree about your assessments of Independents. I am an Independent, not because I cannot claim a side, but because I looked at all the parties and none of them were conservative enough for me, although the Rs came closest.
