Default Best new and used handgun purchases in 2017

Happy New Year everyone!
Just for fun, letís share our best new and used handgun purchases in 2017.

New: Browning Buckmark to shoot with my teenage daughter. She had been shooting my old S&W 422. I bought the Buckmark as a Christmas gift, and installed some nice Williams Fire Sights on it.

Used: I picked up a nice W. German Sig P228 from Turnerís for $500. It came without any magazines and had a bulky aftermarket grip, but eBay helped me fix those problems. I took it to the range and hit a bullseye with my first shot. Now I understand why people recommend them.

Iíd post pictures, but Photobucket got greedy in 2017. (Recommendations of photo storing sites welcome.)

P10c & m&p 2.0 5" ...... Purchased both new not knowing what to expect and they both won me over.

Used p320 tacops is for sale in the marketplace. Just doesn't do it for me like the m&p 2.0.

Only handgun I bought this year was a Shield, on sale with the rebate. My son bought one too. Both guns run flawlessly with my 115gr. handloads as well as commercial ammunition.

All "used" bought in 2017, cuz really not much on the roster I want:

-- Tanfoglio Stock ll
-- S&W Pre-model 29, 4-screw, 6.5", blue, 96% (1957)
-- Colt Diamondback, 2.5", blue, mint
-- Colt Python, 6", blue, mint
-- Walther PPS M2
-- S&W Shield 9
-- M&P9 2.0, 5" FDE

The 4 semi-autos are all fun and accurate shooters...really pleased with all of them. The revolvers are top notch BBQ choices, lol

The best purchases I had some involvement in:

1. CZ 527 in x39 and CZ75b with Kadet .22lr kit
2. Daniel Defense DDM4 and CZ75 SP-01

Why are these so special? Because these were bought by CA buddies who hadn't owned guns before and I was the one who stoked the fire under them!

Those range trips and all that free ammo I provided were totally worth it! My goal for 2018 is a few more new gun owners!

Thumbs up

Steyr L9-A1, one owner and lightly used. Came with two factory 17's , tupperware box and literature. I still don't believe it was $409 with shipping.

Weird, no New this year that I remember. Best used would be a mint 586 4" I bought here.

I got a Uberti Cattleman (single action) with a 5.5" barrel in .357 Mag. This one has color case hardening and is charcoal blued, which give is a really nice, bright blue color. The trigger is "Taylor Tuned" and extremely light and crisp. Love it!

used: mpx pistol

not sure if iíll get anything in 2018, planning on picking up a raptor so most of my money will go into saving for that. maybe ill add a p10c or scorpion carbine if i get the itch to buy something lol.

Off roster M&P Shield 9. No LCI, thumb safety or mag discount. I've been carrying it since I got it. Added Heinie straight 8 ledge sights to it. Great gun....

New: none
Used: Colt Mk.IV Series 70 Gov't Model

Didn't go too crazy with pistols for 2017 since I mainly was into precision rifle.

It was made by Sig, the gun says Browning. It was imported by Browning. When you look up the history it says Browning. So it's a Browning.

Didn't buy or sell. I'm happy with the three I have.
I may replace my Beretta PX4 with another PX4 after we move to AZ. Its had a LOT of ammo cycle through it.
The SP101 is just getting started.

Bought a 2nd SP2022 so my wife could have her own and I could have mine. I think everything else was a long gun. Otherwise, we just bought silver in preparation for the correction that's 9 years overdue. When asset classes flip again we'll be able to get what we really want.

2017 was a boom year, so it's hard to pick between everything I picked up. But the Nighthawk VIP is the most memorable because I never thought I'd spend that much on a single gun.
