Default 2013 - The front line is California

The front line is California

We followed the process by making sure they knew our position. It is a process we must follow and be true to. They need to know our voices and thoughts and opinions.
We can not stop now we must settle in for the long fight.
Thinking that a few emails, faxes and calls will win the war isn't the way to think, we must settle in for the long fight we must continue to fight or accept loss.

We are not done yet:

The next major deadline after that is September 13 roughly, All Senate bills (SBs) must be passed by the Assembly before this deadline, and all Assembly bills (ABs) must be passed by the Senate before this deadline.

Governor Jerry Brown then has until October 13 to sign or veto the passed bills. If he takes no action, then the bill becomes the law.

More results here: http://assembly.ca.gov/dailyfile

SB-683 Firearms: firearm safety certificate. passed
SB-755 Firearms: prohibited persons. passed

Updates:

What about the Assembly Bills in Senate Appropriations? (AB 48, 169, 711, 1131, etc.)

Also, what happened to SB 396 (banning magazines over 10 rounds completely)?

Thanks.

What about SB 396 and how was SB 47 sucked into SB 374? Is SB 374 amended to also re-define detachable mag centerfire firearms?

Does anyone really think this crap was/is not going to pass? I called and e-mailed multiple times but knew it was just a formality given the stooges we have in Sac. I do believe it is important that we voice our opinions but at this point they should just get it over with so we can take it to the courts.
It would be nice if we could muster some kind of a recall ala Colorado but I pretty much know that's not going to happen either.
Put a fork in it because I think this state is cooked.

Before today, we were looking at the doctor who had a very grave expression on his face. There was still a flicker of hope.

Then he told you "you have to get your affairs in order".

Yes - not unanticipated, but still unwelcome news.

SB374 is really confusing to me.

Says it does not apply to "antiques" So would C&R M1 Carbines be exempt?

Says we have to register detachable mag semi auto's but also says they had to be purchased after Jan 1, 2001. What about detachable mag semi autos purchased prior to then that were never AW's until this legislation?

They worked. They know our position. It does not mean they accept our position.
We still need to work at changing some minds up there.
We still need to do face to face visits with our local reps.

Find your local reps: http://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/

and go talk to them. Not once though, make them your coffee buddy and make sure they know where you stand and why

With all due respect it aint gonna work. Hell, some of these guys might even like guns. Its the party agenda at this point. The only thing that is going to stop them is a court order. We should be getting a war chest together and have an Attorney present them with a letter stating what will happen when these things pass.
I hate to say it but its over. We lost this battle but not the war. So lets start looking at letting the lawyers handle it.

Hell no. Big difference between antiques and C&R weapons.

Antiques are generally weapons made before 1899. See definition here...

Further proof that CA legislators ignore their constituents and do whatever they want. Much like their almighty progressive leader who thinks he is a king.... We live a state where the people are ignored to keep the oppressors in power... Period. The sheer fact they are grand-fathering is amazing.

Come what may, I prefer they have to look me in the eye and justify attacking my liberties to me personally. It's a step I will try my best to take unless they hide from us mere citizens.

The legal challenges to this tyranny will be inevitable and we should all do what we can to back those challenges by those that know what they are doing.

Well like many have said, this isn't unexpected, but I still had my fingers crossed we would skate through another legislative session without a major bill passing.

Time to lace up and get ready for the next round.

Also worrisome to me is that now the price wars are going to start again. Things were just starting to calm down, too. Time to invest in a stripped lower..... maybe 20.

I know I sound pessimistic but I'm with you. I'll never give up either but we need some serious ammunition to fight these imbeciles. The only thing they fear is getting sued and losing and not even that when it comes to taxpayer money. Somehow we need to make these guys accountable for their actions. I think, like some around here, that this may be a blessing in disguise. I wish they had left the rimfire clause in SB374. Then it would be a slam dunk at SCOTUS.
The way this state is going this was inevitable. Maybe they finally crossed the line and we can get a definitive court win. If we lose in the end, well, I'll cross that line when it comes.
Keep up the good fight Penny's dad! We appreciate what you are doing.

besides taking it to the courts I think there should be a concentrated effort in changing the people in public office next election instead of trying to change the minds of the current people In office. maybe some members of the Calguns community are qualified candidates to run for state office.

Maybe we should do a head fake and go completely silent. No calls, no e-mails no anything. That would really freak them out. lol

I don't disagree. However one of these idiots stood in front of a group of people and claimed that a bullet button turned a semi automatic rifle into a fully automatic rifle and nobody challenged her. That's what we are facing.
