The biggest CGN and multi-chapter gathering shoot in our state...!!!!!.

Overnight stay for the weekend, lots of guns, tons of ammo, belt feds, steel, paper, biodegradable and organic targets, C&R night shoot extravaganza, abundant food, camp fires at night, zombie movies, etc.

* ORVs welcome (check your tag color).

* Big Potluck and BBQ on Sat. for lunch, let's get together and make new friends and/or put a face to that screen name.

* RAWs, Beltfeds, .50s and Big bores, welcome.

* Insane C&R Sat. evening extravaganza, (do you have a vintage gun?? do you like muzzle flash? do you have a good camera?....bring em, you are going to love it).

Range Rules

1. Must sign-in at registration table and check with RSO before shooting.

2. The firing line is open all weekend.

3. Eye and ear protection is mandatory.

4. No shooting from a holster or uncontrolled bump firing.

5. Load all guns / magazines at firing line.

6. Engage targets straight on and know what’s behind.

7. All steel must be placed at 100 yards minimum.

8. Guns must be cleared w/ chamber visible or flagged when not in use.

Calguns/CGSSA Zombie Shoot General Information.

This is a 100% family oriented event created by our members for our members, families and friends.

Step 1. Sign In.
Step 2. Grab your spot on the line.
Step 3. Claim your camping spot.

• All local and federal laws will be strictly followed

• No tannerite, explosives or fireworks of any kind
• No drugs of any kind

What is OK to bring:

* EZ ups and Canopies, chairs, tables, ice chests, lots of water, drinks and ice, camping equipment, hats, sun screen.etc.

* Paper, biodegradable, organic and steel targets are OK.

* Bikes, Quads and all types of ATVs are welcome (please check you tag color).

* Generators and flood lights.

* LOTS OF Fire wood for the campfires, more food, drinks and popcorn for the zombie movie.

If you would like to "donate" your targets to a shooter next to you, the people receiving those targets will be responsible to remove them and clean the spot after the shoot.

Remember, preservation of our land is a must...!!!!!!

What is NOT OK to bring:

* Plastic, glass or any kind of electronic equipment to be used as targets.

Useful tips and tricks

* If you're bringing a tent/canopy/shade/whatever, bring plenty of weights to hold it down as there are strong winds around noon to 3 PM every day. 2 years ago, several blew down range as well as a table or two blew over with guns going everywhere.

* Organize items list for those going to the store or coming up in the middle of the day or different days. Example would be ice, food or bug spray.

Location and directions:

The event site is located just 15 miles NE from Barstow.

A 3 mile off road drive is needed in order to reach the campground and firing stations.

Motor Homes, toy haulers, trailers, tents, etc. are Welcome and invited.....Plenty of room for overnight campers.

Testing? The only thing I need to hear is, time to vote on a weekend. Changing employment soon and hoping that the event will fall on a weekend I can make it.

Considering the RAW/BB issue, 10+ mags disappearing on July 1, and ammo restrictions beginning 2018, SSZS 8.0 & SSZS 8.5 are going to be EPIC.

I don't think so. The 7-9 make sense to me with the full moon. Hopefully it warms up a little by then as well, it was cold out there this weekend.

Well, if we have it in March as we have often had, then there is no choice to make.

It's all the same to me as I'm retired, so every day is a weekend. The only thing that can impact me is if a grandchild's birthday celebration is on a particular weekend. With 12 of them, I know the odds may not be in my favor.

I've missed the last couple, so I'm hoping to go to the next one and would be taking two of my 9 grandsons.

ETA: Temecula Rod Run March 3rd and 4th (Fri/Sat), so please don't pick that date. Some of the booth volunteers (myself included) also want to attend the Zombie Shoot. Thanks.

Now that I have your attention.

Folks, I need dates so I can start a poll.

This is your family event , you've created it and make it such an unique event.

Please don't be shy and produce plausible dates.

Nothing wrong with a dark moon - i'm for anything in the later portion of the month April 21/22/23 & 28/29/30.

I'm with PTO re: Knob Creek. I typically miss the spring event due to other commitments, but trying to make this one given GUNmegeddon.

How many items can be in a poll?

Just throw up all of March, April and the first week of May. Then let the games begin!

I second dates April 21-22-23 or 28-29-30 for the poll.
Easter is the 16th, probably not a good weekend.

Don't care about the date except I'd like to bring the boy, as usual. Just has to match up with weekends that I have him.

Edit: Looks like I have him April 7-9.

Since it is mentioned in this thread, can someone explain the appeal of the "Knob Creek Machine Gun" thing? I get the Calguns Communal Shoot n que... that makes sense and sounds cool.

But do people really travel all the way to Kentucky to sit in bleachers and watch wealthy old men bounce tracers off a hillside at night? I must be missing something because I couldn't imagine anything dumber. I did get VERY limited access to shoot a .50 with tracers in the Army and it was fun, but WTF is this big show about?

I read the comments and it is all useless nonsense like "Eff Yeah Mrica cause we can eff yeah" I get that sentiment if you actually own a minigun and can afford to shoot it. But what is so "Eff yeah Mrca" about being faceless sheeple in a bleacher drinking $12 beers and watching some old geezer annihilate a pile of dirt?

Novelty is definitely part of it - especially because we live in CA and don't get to play with NFA stuff - but there is also a huge benefit in attending if one is a builder looking for unique parts, discussing tips and tricks regarding specialty modifications, the list goes on.

Knob Creek is as much a machine gun shoot as the Shot Show is media day - there is are numerous tangental events/deals/meetings/etc that go on since so many of the right folks are in the right place at the same time.

Well that all certainly makes sense, thanks gents. The gunshow and buy /sell deals would make it worth going for sure. I have a pipe dream about owning a semi auto MG42 someday anyway.

Thank you for all the information.

It's seems like we have a good number of suggestion aiming for the last part of April, it sounds extremely tempting indeed.

We should have enough time to get our guns, ammo, targets, etc., in order and ready to roll.

No full moon but ideal for insane muzzle flash opportunities, hunting zombies in the dark is always fun!. With the improved light towers donated to our family event by Thordsen industries the line will be well illuminated all the time.

Enough talk, let's the tribe decide our faith.

Please vote!.

March 3 & 4 (Fri/Sat) is the Temecula Rod Run which we have been participating in for approx. 6yrs. We would appreciate it if that date is not selected because some of the volunteers for that booth (me included) want to attend the Zombie Shoot. Thanks.
