Shot mine this past weekend, epic nice.

Very happy, I have thirty 10/22 mags , so we had a blast breaking it in.

You won’t regret buying one.

Default The new Ruger Precision Rimfire

I posted a review with target images in the center fire section. I guess I should have posted here.. below is what I posted in error in the CF section:

Got a chance to run out and shoot a bunch of different ammo today.

It’s only fair to start with I have seen these things pre-order for $399. The scope I put on mine was only $280. This is a pretty budget offering.

My first impression after setting up the RPR was that the cheap rear stock section of the chassis is so light that it is just weird to me.

The trigger? I just don’t know what to make of it.

The magazines it came with would drop out, but the replacement Clear Ruger 10/22 magazines that I ordered would stick so much that I needed a tool to get them out.

I’ve noticed a lot of guys have bought some very cheap 4-14 FFP Athalon BTR scopes. I’m not sure about them. With mine, I could not get comfortable behind it for a long period. I might have just been really tired. I do not often shoot in busy ranges and that might have had something to do with my perception.

Hands-down it like Ely ammo. However, I was shooting off a bipod only and really didn’t feel comfortable behind the gun.

Below are the targets from my 25 yard ammo test and my confirmation at 50 yards of my top two choices. The gun is probably capable of shooting better just not me today.

Strangely, the 25 yard ammo test group looks like the 50 yard test groups -

I shot this right out of the box and didn’t clean the barrel

It’s plenty accurate enough with the Eley for me to fiddle around with positional shooting- for the price it seems to be a really good deal.

Edited to add Fix of balance + measurements of the ELey ammo at 50y. Note that I only shot 2 groups with the ELey Club; ELey match was not as good. Wind was certainly a factor as was I.

I am taking one of my ADM QRs and adding 8 oz or so the the butt stock as a bag rider.

The other ammo groups were all larger. Seemed like a ok group was starting except one would drop out etc. Some ammo I didn’t even attempt at 50 because 25 looked so bad.

Not usually a fan of such stuff but this makes the gun at least balanced.

I heard several people saying the the RPR and the RPR-Rimfire use the "same trigger" I guy just sent me a video on the Hide and confirmed this is NOT the case !

So no Timney for me

But hopefully the images will help others from doing the same.

Here is the RPR on the top and RPR rimfire triggers.

How do you like it? I'm thinking of getting one. I have 1983 vintage 10/22 that is still stock. I can hit steel with it at 100 yards, iron sights, no scope.

Thanks,

David

...My son put one of these new Ruger Precision Rimfires on pre-order earlier today. When it arrives, I'll do a review and comparison to my Savage FV-SR. I'm a bit of a rimfire fanatic and think it's awesome that I'll be able to get my hands on the new Ruger without having to cough up the cash for my own. This is my Savage...

Why didn't Ruger just come out with a 77/22 with a bull barrel and an oversize bolt knob and call it a day?

They already have a traditional looking bolt action rimfire.

I can't believe someone was selling one with a good scope for $300 on here. I seriously missed it by 5 min. By the time I responded I was the 4th offer.

Here is the ad for the RPR that you are talking about. It does not include the scope or bipod but you can purchase those for an extra $400.

“Other info: good condition bout 4mo old selling to fund a KIDD. Has a Troy claymore muzzle break. Comes with original mag and one extra factory 10rd mag Leupold vx3 2.5x8 scope larue mount hogue grip atlas bipod with American defense mount and mlock pic mount can be included for an extra 400 but not sold separately.”

Diver, there's no muzzle device when you were shooting those groups. Then your lower photo shows a muzzle device. Has the device changed the way it shoots? What device is that?

Like this? https://www.ruger.com/products/ameri...et/models.html

BTW Ruger introduced a .17 hmr and a .22 mag version earlier this year (sorry, this is old news...looks like newbie1234 said something about it last Jan). Seriously thinking about a RPR rimfire in .22 mag

I want a 22 mag bolt gun, while that is pretty awesome, I think I’ll save a couple hundred and just get the American in 22 mag.

^ While I really like the RPRR's concept and features, I went with a cz 455 varmint in .22mag. I found it to be equal in price but up in quality (imho). It's hard to resist a nice wooden stocked tack driver, plus you can switch out barrels for .17hmr and .22lr.

Well, to me this thing is really ugly IMO. But I'm old school, checkered walnut lumber and polished blue only.
