12 round cylinder = large capacity magazine = CA FFL dealer can not transfer it to you unless you are a LEO

Rimfire firearms are not exempt from CA's large capacity magazine laws.

Penal Code 16740
As used in this part, "large-capacity magazine" means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
(a) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
(b) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
(c) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.

Those are firing chambers.
Not a magazine.
However with all the other California pistol stupidity I really doubt this will be a California approved weapon.
I want one. Actually 2.

FUD!!

USFA's 12/22 was legally sold in CA without modification.

Not FUD, letter of the law.
Firearm's cylinder = ammunition feeding device

"Yoo.....don......need....12 rounds of .22 to kill a dee-ya!"

That thing looks awesome. I never thought before if a cylinder was considered a magazine but the language above - hmmm.

So if you are loading the cylinder isn't the ammunition feeding device your fingers? The cylinder is, in effect, the chamber. You just have 12 of them.

That's my interpretation.
We shall see.
Hell if anything , epoxy up 2 of the chambers .
But again, these are firing chambers that are self contained thus not fed from any "feeding device" ( like a mini gun that's fed from a belt)

Oh... I normally look at 6 shot revolvers so I didn't think this would be a problem. Well I guess I'll get their new 6 rounders in .22lr or a Ruger Single-six:

Does not work for single-action revolvers.
Because, dimensionally compliant single-action revolvers have their own exemption.
But, that still does not exempt the fact that the firearm has a large capacity magazine.

That certainly gets it past the roster matter.

I strongly suspect USFA had some sort of letter from the CA DOJ.

What's the reputation of Uberti revolvers compared to say Ruger or S&W?

I wonder if replacement Colt SAA grips will fit it?

I wonder if it is possible to load two rounds at a time through the loading gate as it is on the USFA 12/22?

I own a Cimmaron/Uberti although I haven't had it long but I think it's really nice. Uberti has a 5-year warranty, I believe. I went with it over a Ruger simply because it's a replica. Colt grips should fit.

Does S&W even make single action revolvers anymore?

Modern Ruger single-action revolvers are going to be built to the New Blackhawk pattern with two frame screws and a transfer bar for the firing pin. They're American made, and they'll get the job done, but IMHO, the triggers feel like crap, and they're not replicas.

Uberti has been making SSA replicas for decades. They supplied firearms for all the spaghetti westerns (you'll see their name in the credits of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, for instance), so they've got a great reputation. While they're not as nice as the USFA SSAs, they're also a fraction of the price.

If you want a Uberti, I recommend buying through Cimarron, as opposed to Beretta (branded Uberti), because the internal lock is less obvious and obtrusive, and the fit and finish are better.

I need to get my hands on a used USFA Rodeo or something. I'd get new but a new one doesn't seem likely anymore.

Thanks for the insight.

I don't think S&W makes single actions at the moment. I was just using them as an example of build quality.

I'm not sure why some look down at Uberti because they are Italian versus American. Probably just ignorance. I know that USFA was chided for using either Uberti or Pedersoli parts at one point, as if they were of inferior grade and I serious doubt they were.

I've seen plenty of USFA 12/22 revolvers for sale in California. It's not a fixed mag, or a detachable mag, it's a chamber, and there is no law on how many chambers a gun may have.

Well it's entirely possible that the metal used was softer than normal USFA parts. Softer metal is easier and cheaper to machine...

Not necessarily, particularly with the ultra-hard ceramic cutting tool materials and coatings.

In-process annealing of machined parts is common anyway. I think some people simply liked to pop-off because they were not not "marican" made.

then take the letter they send back and use it for toilet paper because that's what it's worth. Remember when DOJ said the slidefire stock was ok?

I'm inclined to agree with the "it's a chamber, not a feeding device" crowd since the bullet is fired directly from the cylinder and not extracted from it, then loaded into a chamber, and then fired....

price? rumored availability date?? range roports???

Didn't follow the slide fire stock issue, but was that put on official DOJ letterhead?

Point being if you have a written "official determination" then I doubt you could be prosecuted for having a high cap mag.

Call an FFL, call 100 of them. If one says he will get you one, then its as legal as its gonna get until someone goes to court on it.

Yup. The Ubertis are some handsome revolvers for sure.

Those Italians. They sure can make some functional art.

If the firing chamber of a firearm is counted, then all C96 broomhandles should be AW's for having a fixed feeding device with a capacity of 11.

for that matter every time you put a 10 round magazine into a firearm you will be manufacturing an 11 round ammunition feeding device.

I think a strong argument can be made that the firing chamber on a firearms is not counted as an amunition feeding device.

that said, i'm not sure if it will cover your butt.
