Gun shops actually in Simi Valley would be Smokin' barrels, Greta's and Fort Courage... Fort Courage seems to be popular for PPT's.

Not sure about Santa Clarita.

Another for Fort Courage for PPTs, just check their days for closures, they close a lot since they're a small family based outfit.

For gun shop, Smokin Barrel is nice and pretty good selections, even reloading stuff.

I've heard a horror story about Oaktree PPTs, however I heard they used to allow you to shoot your gun during the wait period(which is how the horror story started)

I heard Whisky Tango was reopening in Canyon Country under new ownership. Anybody know if they're open yet?

Fort Courage can be a dangerous place to do PPTs. I know that about every other time I do a PPT there, I end up buying something off the rack too. Last time I met a calgunner there to PPT a 700 SPS to me. I ended up buying a LH BDL in .270 on the same DROS. I'm not sure why I keep going there. I know they are fast, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient but, those aren't reasons to shop at a gun store, are they? I haven't stepped into Smokin' Barrel yet and as far as Greata's goes, I will never have a good reason to step in there again.

Oaktree is OK for PPTs but, I had to wait longer than I would have liked to to do them. It's not there fault. They are just busy and have their own extra in house forms for transfers on top of the other forms.

Not sure if they are reopened yet. But Scorpion Arms is the next street North and 2 driveways East from WTF. That said, I liked the WTF experience. Always great service, no BS. Hope its the same under the new management!

I'd add another vote for Fort Courage and would also strongly advise against Greta's.
