Talking Thanks Dad! Family Transfer July 4, 2013 & 12/30/13

***UPDATED with added long guns***
.

So I've been here at CGN since October 2012 and I've learned a lot. Thanks to those willing to help.

So when I started learning about existing laws regarding long gun registration and family transfers, I decided I wanted to set up my kids (two boys) with some long guns before the end of this year. It started as just a stripped lower for each of us, then a 10/22 for each of us, then became this..

3x JD Machine stripped AR-15 lower
3x Ruger 10/22
3x Mossberg 500 Persuader 12g
3x Ruger Scout

Thanks to weekend_plinker for an updated pic.
I wanted to add some smileys to the photo where I cut out faces but I apparently don't have the programs or skills. I'll try to fix later, but I wanted to post today.

It took until last week to get in all the Scouts.

Sooooo..... I hope I did things right, at least according to existing laws. Time will tell what happens with any new laws.

Suggestions and/or comments requested.

***UPDATED with added long guns***
.

Added gifts on December 30, 2013

3x AK-47 stripped lower
3x Henry's U.S. Survival AR-7

This has been my contribution to my son's freedom.

.

Good job. I put several guns aside for my kids from the day they were born and continue to do so.

Awesome! I love that everything is properly locked, you've thoroughly documented your gifts, documented the time period in which they were gifted and your sons' clear acknowledgement of receiving them as gifts.

If I could, I'd take $1M and help as many CGN fathers buy long guns for their children.

You've done well for them. In theory all of their long arms needs (not wants) can be easily done with these. All that remains are center and rimfire pistol and all is done.

Yep, but since they cannot have for 15 years, there is no hurry at this point. Not like beating the long gun registration and family transfer law changes.

I highly reccommend swapping those pistol grips on the Persuaders with standard stocks before learning how to shoot a shotgun with a pistol grip. The stocks help.

MOST definitely. Right now I'm hoarding ammo with all my extra money. What good is passing down long guns without ammo?

Always a smart idea. Also, you should look into investing in reloading for the Ruger Scouts. If you can reload for .308, it can drive the price of shooting down.

I assume you and your wife are the only ones that can get into the safe?
I can see that you have an awesome family, which by the way, starts with awesome parents. Good job Dad.

Yes, I got one of them Bighorns on sale from Costco a couple months ago. Only me, my wife, and my mom know the code.

My wife, however, doesn't know about all of these long guns. She only knows of the 10/22s. One day she'll open the safe.......

I think we got a leading contestant in the " Father of the Year" contest...

I am 100% serious...we should have that kinda stuff on Calguns, but people would try to brag about it...maybe it should be submitted by another person witnessing the kind act?

Awesome job OP! At this point all I've been able to do for my kids is transfer them M1 Garands, with a notorized gift statement. I hope to be able to transfer a couple ARs too before 1/1/14. The kids gotta have a chance at some decent guns.

I was the first male in my family to ever own a gun... wish my Dad had been into guns and had a collection, that would have been sweet!

I might be wrong but I don't believe anyone under 18 was allowed to register an "assault weapon" might have to look into a trust.

All of this running to be a legal subject makes me sick. When some arm of the law comes to enforce tyrannical un constitutional law, time to water the tree of liberty.

Great job adding to your collection, but this whole bs law is disgusting. We need mass disobedience now.

Hope all these people hoarding collectios are at hr same time donating time and money to cgf and similar legal enforcement arms of 2a

I may be wrong but I believe no one under 18 can even use a RAW either. So that means even if the parent registers then the child can't even use it till much later.

Maybe so, but since they are stripped lowers, they can be built in to many variations that are not on the flowchart, such as featureless and rimfire.

Not if the laws pass. All semi auto rifles will have to be registered as AWs.

Whats with the shotguns?
